G2 Rebel third Big Lake (American Pharoah x Resistivity) is a damline descendant of 1924 Preakness winner Nellie Morse and is from Nellie Morse's daughter line that produced Bold Forbes, Saratoga Six, Lakeway, etc.

Wayne's Crane stood in Texas, and was by L'enjoleur, who was by Buckpasser. That sire line is all but extinct, much like the Broad Brush line will be when Include goes

NGL my immediate thought was "This must be Batman related."

Also in Texas is Redeemed (Include) who previously stood in Maryland but was recently moved there.

We can at least hope that Include turns out to be like Secretariat, and his genes prevail through high class daughters. Panty Raid, Another Broad, Cash Included, Class Included, St. John's River, etc. may yet surprise us.

She's also the dam of Proxy! ;) He isn't a stakes winner but he was second in the LeComte and the Risen Star; most recently fourth in the Lousiana Derby. There are a few stake races with his name on them out there, I'm sure.

Include also has G1W Her Smile, who has foaled GSW Pink Sands!

Nice to know ! We have Poco Paris ( Col John X Lake Travis ) here in New Kent, Va. due any day to Alternation, and will be visiting Mo Town after foaling. We had been hoping for good things for Big Lake.

Been pretty fun watching 8 y/o gelding Extravagant Kid rise to the top.

He is a son of Kiss the Kid (Lemon Drop Kid), a MG3W nephew of Black Tie Affair. Kiss the Kid started his career as a stallion in Florida but spent most of it in Ohio where he died in 2020. Extravagant Kid is his only SW but he has also sired SP Just Kidding.

His dam Pretty Extravagant is a descendant of Bold Princess and Grey Flight. Damsire is With Distinction.

Prioritize is a 6 y/o son of Tizway out of Whey Sauce, a Japanese-bred mare by Kurofune who herself is out of a Sunday Silence mare.

He placed in the G1 Woodward, G2 Hill Prince (turf), and blacktype Better Talk Now S (turf). He is a four-time winner.

Whey Sauce is a descendant of Charming Story and Dame Fritchie. There is a lot of names in the pedigree.

I got a big kick out of learning that our Preakness winner Rombauer is from the same female family as California Flag, Cambiocorsa, Roaring Lion, Moulin de Mougin, etc.

With Prince of Love siring his first winner, my thoughts were, who is this stallion? So here is what I've researched. Link to the story of him siring his first winner is here: https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing ... ce-of-love

Prince of Love is an unraced son of Caro's Love (another stallion I'm unfamiliar with) out of Princess Lucayan, by Lucayan Prince. He has 4 foals in his first crop, Shortman being his only starter. He is currently standing at his breeder's Rancho San Roberto. He didn't cover mares in 2019 but covered 3 in 2020.

Caro's Love, was a multiple stakes winning son of Caro - Lady Jove, by Northern Jove, he also set a NTR at Golden Gate Fields for 8f in 1:33. He stood at various farms in California, including Cardiff Stud Farm, before being sold for $8,000 at the 1999 Barretts January Mixed Sale and ended up standing at Rancho San Roberto. He sired 117 foals, 71 starters, 46 winners, 2 Stakes Winners, and earners of $2,047,077.

Princess Lucayan (Lucayan Prince - Bold Civette, by Bold Badgett) was placed in 9 starts all at Golden Gate Fields before being retired in April of her 3yo year and bred. She produced 4 foals, 1 winner in Prince of Marbella, she has not been breed since the last of those foals was born in 2015. Note: I tried to find horses of note from this female family but I was finding it extremely hard and its late.

Her sire, Lucayan Prince, is by Fast Play - Now That's Funny, by Saratoga Six. He was a G3SW/G1 placed on dirt and turf and Champion 3yo sprinter in England and Champion Older Male Sprinter in Ireland. He also stood at Rancho San Roberto where he died in 2006. Story on his death here: https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing ... rince-dead
During his brief stud career, he sired 54 foals, 35 starters, 26 winners, 1 Stakes Winner, and earners of $1,105,004.
His sire, Fast Play (Seattle Slew - Con Game, by Buckpasser) was a G1SWing half brother to top sire Seeking The Gold. He stood at various farms in Kentucky before moving around in the regional market. He got 446 foals, 348 starters, 256 winners, 20 stakes winners, and earners of $16,193,875. He never got a big horse though, a couple G2/G3SWs at most.
His dam Now That's Funny (Saratoga Six - Topical Cream, by Creme dela Creme) was also the dam of MG3SW Comic Strip (who stood at Lane's End briefly), G2SW Silver Comic(dam of G2 Speaktomeofsummer, G3 Silver Reunion, etc) and SW Akiba.

Pretty interesting article on the oldest stud book print we have.

What's more interesting is that Racing Post didn't put this behind a paywall!

Not sure where else to ask this.

People more familiar with standardbreds: why is gray so apparently rare for them?

Maggie B.B. and her vast battalion of stakes-winning descendants never fail to fascinate me. Of course, La Troienne is dear to my heart, as is the less prominent family of Alysheba. Yeah. I'm biased. I care little for stats. It's all sentiment to me.

Probably has to do with a very low genetic diversity within the breed.

That must also explain why there are so many dang Muscles and Halls and Yankees and Hanovers.

Low genetic diversity and creativity.
