GREEN LIGHT GO scratched from yesterday's allowance at Oaklawn. He is nominated to 2 diff stakes next weekend at Oaklawn. Maybe he's training well enough to point for a stakes. Essex and Hot Springs

SILVER STATE nominated to Essex next weekend at Oaklawn.

Weburn 3/7 article on Paulick Report also mentioned ROCKETRY, since thay have the same trainer.

https://www.paulickreport.com/news/trip ... l-options/

Jerkens said multiple graded stakes winner Rocketry will arrive at his Belmont Park stable on Monday from Centennial Farm in Middleburg, Va.

The durable 7-year-old son of Hard Spun was last seen ending a nine-race slump when coming from ten lengths off the pace to win the 1 5/8-mile Grade 2 Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance on November 6 at Keeneland.

Jerkens said Rocketry will target the 12-furlong Grade 2, $400,000 Brooklyn on June 4 at Belmont Park. He was a close second to Marconi in the 2019 edition of the Brooklyn.

“The Brooklyn is in the plan, but how we get there I'm not sure,” Jerkens said.

GREEN LIGHT GO and SILVER STATE both entered in the Essex Handicap at Oaklawn; CADDO RIVER entered in the Rebel Stakes. All this coming Saturday, March 13.
CADDO RIVER drew PP1, so straight shot to the lead for him. SILVER STATE and GREEN LIGHT GO drew PP5 & 6 respectively out of a field of 7.

I would like to see Caddo River win the Rebel. He is going to carry the most weight though. Hope he wins anyway.

I like the trainer change. He dropped off form precipitously last time out. Fingers crossed for him. Saturday is a big day for Hard Spun babies!

Looked like THE SOUND finished dead last or not by a nose after breaking last, making a middle move up to third and then folding. In race #8 at Oaklawn today.

AREEMAA won race #5 at Oaklawn Park today. Her record is now 12-1-0-3. She finally got her win and did it with style, winning by 10 lengths. Well done! Hoping she has a brighter future off of this win. She was claimed, too.

GREEN LIGHT GO may scratch from the Essex. I see he is entered in an allowance on the 19th. I think that makes more sense for him. He needs to win a race before potentially getting in farther over his head in a stakes.

A THREAD OF BLUE finished 7th in his handicap race at Tampa Bay. First race since last August. Looked like he tired. He got good position in second and took the lead on the far turn, but faded in the stretch.

CADDO RIVER finished 5th or 6th maybe in the Rebel. Disappointing. He didn't get the lead and didn't settle. Dang. He didn't get any points out of that race, so he sits at 10. He would need a 1st or second in the Ark Derby to get in the KD and after today, I'm not sure he has the talent for it. That was pathetic. Bitter pill. I was hoping Hard Spun finally had a classic horse.

A THREAD OF BLUE was washed out terribly in the post parade. Looked like he was lathered in soap suds.

Poor thing! He had a long layoff. I didn't see the race live, so missed the post parade. I got his race confused with the ones at Oaklawn and misjudged the time of his race by an hour. It was a rough day. I hope Caddo River is okay. Being rank in the early going didn't help him. Not a good day for either of them. Glad Silver State won at least.

CATHOLIC GUILT won race #1 at Oaklawn today. He did what Caddo River should have been allowed to do yesterday. Go to the lead and not hold back. CATHOLIC GUILT broke his maiden as well. First time he was allowed to go to the lead and he won for the first time.

video replay: https://www.tvg.com/results

It will be available on the Oaklawn website starting tomorrow.

So, looking at the winning BSF of 94 as well as the splits in the race, Caddo River should have done better than he did based on his past performances. That race wasn't that fast and I believe he's run a 92 BSF in the past. So why did he stop like that? Perhaps being held back and fighting with his jockey. Or maybe it was his turn to throw in a clunker. No way to know for sure, but he has demonstrated enough talent to have been able to run with that winner. Now, if they had hooked up and ran faster, no telling what would have happened, but jockey didn't give him a chance to run his race.

Don't worry about Caddo River. He will go to stud someplace after he is done racing, and he will probably win some graded stakes races before he is done. He is a good horse. As for Hard Spun, even Mr. Prospector did not get a Kentucky Derby winner until he was about 28 years old. Of course, Mr. P sired over a thousand horses and was bred to nothing but Cadillacs when he was at Claiborne.
