Don't think CADDO RIVER was entered in the Sugar Bowl. Race is tomorrow and I don't see an entry listed for him tomorrow.

This does NOT sound good. 10th race today at Aqueduct. Stupid jockey to keep riding him!

HIT IT ONCE MORE eight paths off the inside detached at the tail of the field in tandem with VICAR'S LEGEND, darted inside near the half mile pole to be two to three wide through the turn, got put to coaxing at the three-eighths, went six to seven wide into upper stretch, was under light handling when bobbling heavily just outside the sixteenth pole, hobbled injured through to the finish the rider paused, then continued to gallop out a sixteenth past the wire before losing the rider then jogged off to the midway point on the clubhouse turn in distress before being apprehended by the outrider and was subsequently vanned off.

Anyone hear anything, please post here.

Sadly HIT IT ONCE MORE has died. His injury was catastrophic. Jockey surely ensured that by continuing to ride him. So very sad. Careless handling. Ran him to death. Horse didn't deserve it. He won 2 NY bred stakes as a 3yo. Very upsetting.

Caddo River will make his stakes and two-turn debut in the $150,000 Smarty Jones for 3-year-olds Jan. 22 at Oaklawn, the colt's trainer Brad Cox .....

“He's a very good colt,” Cox said. “He ran against two really good colts in New York. He was able to break his maiden, one turn at Churchill. He's big, tall, rangy, leggy colt. I really do think that he's going to be better around two turns. He's got what I think it takes to be a serious horse. He's got speed and he can carry it.”.....

“It appears as though he can carry it,” Cox said, referring to Caddo River's speed. “We'll find out this next race around two turns, but I think he's a very, very good colt.”

I was afraid of this, because I think his owner is from Hot Springs and he's named for a river there. Oaklawn Park. No Hard Spun has ever done anything there. I don't think even a stakes placing. And definitely no stakes wins. Hard Spun's worst race of his career was there. Larry Jones said he didn't handle the track. Maybe Caddo River will be different, but I'm not counting on it. I hope I am wrong, but I'm just going by the evidence so far. Hard Spun has had stakes winners at every other major track in the country.
