No surprises here: Into Mischief has broken Tapit’s single season earnings record. Life Is Good put him over the top.

Thanks for sharing this. He is a lovely looking horse with a really nice unedited conformation shot. I don't even mind he has a bit in his mouth.

Voodoo Song has been privately purchased and is going to stud in Turkey. He went through the Keeneland November sale but was a RNA.

He had fertility issues when he was at Spendthrift. He only got 11 foals from the 48 mares he covered at Spendthrift. Maybe it got worse.
Interesting... But Tom's Ready is only seven. Other horses his age have been successfully moved into other careers.

Siskin(USA)(First Defence) will stand at Shadai Stallion Station for a fee of ¥3,500,000 (about US$ 33,650).

Shadai quotes:
By Forego Stakes winner First Defence, is a son of Unbridled's Song and out of Honest Lady, a half-sister to Gr1 sire Empire Maker.
A descendant of the influential broodmare Best in Show, who is also ancestress of Japanese super heroine Almond Eye.

At least in Japan we can hope that he'll probably be bred to a sounder group of mares.
I would guess that Nadal will be much more popular in Japan than US breeders can possibly imagine.
He is going to be a red-hot Roberto-line stallion for Japanese breeders.
Such young stallions as Maurice and Epiphaneia have revived the popularity of the Roberto as the two lead the 2yo sire ranking this year.
The Roberto must be a great source of the stamina and the versatility. And Nadal, undefeated, has the tremendous speed, too.
I just guess that he will start at around $30-40K.
But I will not be surprised if he soon becomes one of the top stallions in Japan.
What a timely purchase by Shadai!
Stud fee for Nadal is ¥4,000,000 (about US$ 38,500).

Old Friends said on Facebook that his owners wanted him retired to Old Friends and not given a new career and they were going to honor that.

Now that we know Shadai was the one who bought Siskin, I really really don't understand the huge rush to retire him. It seems like Japanese owners are the most sporting in terms of racing older horses, though we know the purses in Ireland and England can't even remotely compare to those in Japan, but there's still a ton of prestigious races to be won.

I also have no real knowledge of the Japanese market in terms of stud fees for middle level stallions, but Siskin's and Nadal's seem like a heck of a lot considering their pedigrees and race records.

Yeah and it's not like Shadai is running low on stallions and stallion prospects.

I'm surprised too? If he'd gone flying on through the season and been the top miler, I'd understand it but he did kinda go off the boil (although 3rd in a G1 is hardly bad  ). I assume Juddmonte weren't interested in racing him on and didn't sell the rights to race to Shadai?

Honest Mischief retired to Sequel for $6500.

Lots of boys capitalizing on daddy’s good name.

At least Honest Mischief has a stronger damside and race record, which is more than we can say for other recent retirees.

And Shadai had absolutely no interest in racing him on, either.
Their take must have been that Siskin was a regally-bred colt precocious enough to win group races at 2 and the Irish 2000 guineas at 3.
But he didn't look like a real deal who can get better with ages.
And I wonder if his 4yo campaign could have decreased his stud value.

As for the stud fees for Siskin and Nadal, I would think that Siskin is over-priced while Nadal is rightly priced.
Shadai has every reason to be bullish on Nadal, as I stated before.
Plus, Japanese horsemen may know from experience that a speed-star on the US dirt can turn out to be an excellent sire for the Japanese turf as well, while a reputable turfer in Europe can turn out to be slow on the Japanese turf after all.
Japanese racing now seeks the speed ultimately.

If Owendale wins the Clark on Friday, I'll be surprised if someone doesn't grab him up ASAP.
