His female family isn't anything to write about, I think you have to go back to his 4th dam to find a G1SW and there is only ONE GSW in his immediate female family, his 2nd dam Santa Catarina, unless one won a Graded Stakes recently and I missed it. Its hard to say anything about his racing career because 4 starts isn't one. I can't believe they are asking 6.5k for him.

Congaree... I remember liking him as a three year old but *loving* him when he was a five year old. He was one of the most versatile, long-lasting horses of the 2000s. Too bad he hasn't gotten adequate recognition.
My rescued harlequin macaw is named Congaree.
He was named after the river in South Carolina, but I have always had a fond spot for Congaree, the racehorse, as a result. His five-year-old year was exceptional. He was a really nice horse. Unfortunately the ones that don't win Eclipse Awards kind of get forgotten. I liked him because he was a son of Arazi. His Derby made me love him. He was up there near the front through those blistering fractions and still managed to hold on for 3rd, when all the other speed wilted. He always tried hard, a truly fun horse to follow because like you said he lasted a really long time.

He unfortunately didn't do enough to stay in Kentucky though.

I have no attachment to this horse but I'm curious to know what standard Spendthrift had set for him, which he did not meet and was shipped out before his first crop hit the ground? He'll likely do better in a regional market of course, but I'm still curious.
