2021 Juddmonte fees

Stallion 2021 fee - 2020 fee
Frankel £175,000 - £175,000 - Huge Frankel fan but after two G1 winners in 2020, coming in Japan and Australia, I think he is overpriced at 175,000
Kingman £150,000 - £150,000
Oasis Dream £20,000 - £25,000 - I know he has cooled off recently but this is an absolute steal, he is the broodmare sire of Siskin (Irish 2,000 Guineas), Twilight Payment (Melbourne Cup) and Sir Dragonet (Cox Plate)
Bated Breath £12,500 - £12,500
Expert Eye £12,500 - £17,500

Any breeder would be better off sending 6 top mares to Teofilo at 30K ( about 26K lb sterling) than one to Frankel.

I was a bit surprised that Kingman fee has not been raised from £150,000 while Frankel's has been left unchanged at £175,000.

In this rather stressful economic climate, leaving a stallion's fee the same is kind of a vote of confidence, IMHO.

Granted, I'm not very familiar with European breeding markets but I was surprised when Juddmonte retired Expert Eye right after the 2018 BC.

Same. It's not really like them to whisk horses off to stud with only one G1 win, especially with a horse that was as quirky as Expert Eye was. I mean, Acclamation is a good stallion, and is a sire of sires with Dark Angel and the emerging Mehmas (whose progeny hadn't yet raced when Expert Eye was retired), but were people clamouring for another Acclamation son?

For the same connections who brought back Frankel at 4 to retire pretty much any sound stallion at 3 makes no sense.

100000 euros for Wootton Bassett seems excessive. He is a fantastic sire, but really?

He's had two horses win three G1s since Coolmore bought him, Wooded in the Prix l'abbaye and Audarya in the Prix Jean Romanet and BC Filly and Mare Turf. I'd say he's worth it.

No Nay Never on the other hand...

I was surprised too, but he has so much potential given what he did off small books.
The cynic in me says they’re trying to scare off other breeders and keep him for the hundreds of Galileo mares
No Nay Never is just such an eye roll at that price! Surprised he isn’t listed as private...

RE. Expert Eye: he’s a lovely looking horse in the flesh, ties in with a lot of the Juddmonte female line (Related to Special Duty) and I think his inconsistency meant they just wanted to get him off to market after his biggest career win...

Also think that Australia and Camelot are a terrific value if you're looking for a middle distance horse - unfortunately most aren't these days.
