Video of Hollie Doyle learning she’s won her first group 1, her boyfriend Tom Marquand is in the blue silks in front of her beaming. Love that she looks down to check her number cloth. Between them they won 3 of the 5 races on British Champions Day!
That moment when she checked her saddle cloth was so sweet. I think that was the event of the day for me!
Tom also caught up in the Balmoral Handicap so they both had two winners today, I bet they’re have a lockdown socially distanced celebration tonight!

Really makes you wonder, 'what happened next?' :o
Does the horse keep running until he/she tires? Could the neck strap be useful to cue the horse to slow down? Did the rider bail? :?

you pray that the horse responds to "whoa"... or that someone is on a hack horse/lead pony type to help slow you down.

I saw. Quite the bummer; I was really looking forward to seeing him at the Breeders' Cup.

Neck strap won't do much. Bridle is still over the ears so you can still steer. Just ride it out til the horse slows down or ride it against a fence (not at full speed though) to make it stop. No way he bailed at that point.

I remember catching lose horses without a bridle (no outriders in Europe and it sometimes just happens). Thank god for the strirrup straps that you can use as a makeshift rope you can put around their ears, works just like a halter. One time I had to use the belt of my fanny bag (don't judge it was the 90ies  ), because the horse was completely without tack running lose on the track when it came to me.

Enable officially left Clarehaven this morning and is out of training. She’s given us all such a great ride and I imagine there wasn’t a dry eye in the house this morning.
Onwards to beautiful Banstead and Kingman!

Oh, thank you SO MUCH for posting this. I love Enable, and it's wonderful to see her looking so well and so happy. She has given us all so much; I hope she has a long, happy and healthy life. And yes, we all know she will be treated like the Queen she is.

The Cox Plate is a potential target for the colt. His 2nd dam is GSW/G1p All Too Beautiful, a full sister to Galileo.

On the At The Races podcast they said the rumoured sale price was 3,000,000 euros.

Although he couldn't seem to find the line first this year, I think his preferred distance is 12f, not the 10f that he's been racing at this year. Hopefully he'll get a couple wins down under.
Well he won the Cox Plate.

Sign of the times.... one time Derby favourite and Lingfield Derby Trial winner English King was sold at the Tattersalls horses in training sales for 950,000 guineas. He has disappointed since the Derby, but it's still shocking to see a three year old with that much potential get sold by a major owner like Bjorn Nielsen. The horse will now race in Australia, so it's also a bummer to see him leave the UK, but Camelot colts are hot commodities down there at the moment.

Cheveley Park also announced that they are scaling back their operation. See all of these old and well known owners scale back worldwide in the last week has been an unwanted reminder that really no one is unaffected by the current climate.

Of the horses up for the 2yo award, I really think it could have gone to any except Battleground. Not because I do not like Battleground, he is very talented but he didn't have a G1 win and missed quite a bit of the season after getting sick. But it is weird that it went to Van Gogh of the other 3 because they had all done more.

Van Gogh - (7) 2-3-0 G1 winner and G3p
Mac Swiney - (6)3-0-0 G1 and G2 winner, but threw in really bad races in between his wins. Also his G1 had a less accomplished field than the other 2.
St Marks Basilica - (5)2-1-1 G1 winner and G1p
Battleground - (4)2-1-0 G2 winner

I can already see it now: Van Gogh retires at the end of his three year old season, winless, but his adverts will read "Champion Juvenile by American Pharoah!"

You could get a job in their marketing department!
Maybe one of their newbies will come up lacking and he’ll be scooted off like Holy Roman Emperor without another start.
With Ballydoyle colts you always feel like no one know who the best is anyway and they’re just throwing them all in to see which one sticks...
Van Gogh might have just reached the peak of career standing in his stall :!:

Regardless of how he races at 3, he'll most likely be at Coolmore America in 2022. I think being a son of AP at stud in the US will be easier to sell than standing in Ireland.
