If Benjamin Warren absolutely has to slap his surname on every horse he owns, why can't he at least have a little fun with it and give us Warren's Moon (as in the quarterback), Warren's Presidency (Harding), Warren's Court (Chief Justice Earl), etc?

I've met Mr Warren a few times, and I think it's fair to describe him as being at least a little self-centered. He genuinely told me that he had a 5-10 year plan to win the Kentucky Derby.... 15 years ago.WaquoitNBroadBrush wrote: ↑Sun Oct 18, 2020 9:46 amIf Benjamin Warren absolutely has to slap his surname on every horse he owns, why can't he at least have a little fun with it and give us Warren's Moon (as in the quarterback), Warren's Presidency (Harding), Warren's Court (Chief Justice Earl), etc?

Reminds me of a book, something like From Dubai To The Derby, but that had to be at least 20 years ago.
And I'm guessing their plan cost a tad more than Mr. Warrens.
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Clairiere, the first foal out of Cavorting just won her debut impressively. She was green as grass early on, but made a beautiful, extended run - while very wide - and relentlessly closed, winning going away. I’m so happy because I adore her dam, whose injury just before the BC was crushing - Cavorting was a tremendous filly. Curlin/Bernardini is a fantastic cross.

Can someone explain what exactly an "overnight stakes" is?

Overnight stakes: These stakes are written with three days advance notice. In a way, these are high-level glorified allowance races. They carry a higher purse than allowance races. For most stakes races, a horse has to be nominated (pay a fee to become eligible) a month or two before the date it’s scheduled to run. This nomination process allows horsemen to point for a race and the marketing and publicity departments at the racetrack to promote the race.
