He has a magic touch for sure. I have pics where he poses the horse, then lets go of the shank. Few can get away with that.

It truly amazes me that the Kitten's Joys are treated like they have the turf plague, but people still spend millions on APs. At least KJ will get you a Grade 1 turf horse. I get that AP puts out a beautiful yearling, and fillies will have residual value for a little while coming from good producing female families, but it still just boggles the mind a bit.

It is significantly higher RNA rate than last year. More horses have sold for $1 million+ this year but not for as high of prices. There is also more horses that sold for under $100,000 in the first 2 sessions compared to last year. There were more horses cataloged for the first 2 sessions in 2020 compared to 2019 but after the outs, it ended up being a 33 horse difference. I typed up some numbers to compare and highlighted the RNA rate below.

2020 through 2 sessions:
448 yearlings cataloged
102 outs
346 through the ring
225 sold
121 RNAs (35% RNA)
14 horses $1,000,000+ (1 at $2 million)
21 horses under $100,000 (lowest - 40k(3), 45k(3)

2019 through 2 sessions:
380 yearlings cataloged
73 outs
313 through the ring
246 sold
67 RNAs (21.4% RNA)
12 horses $1,000,000 + (4 at $2 million+, highest $4.1 million)
8 horses under $100,000 (lowest - 11k, 20k, 45k(2), 65k)

Then for some even more numbers, here are the average and median for each session in both years, the prices for Session 1 in 2020 were a little lower than 2019 but Session 2 ended up being incredibly close, the median was exactly the same:

American Pharoah has produced multiple graded stakes winners domestically and abroad both on turf and dirt, including G1s on turf. I think it's also fair to say that Coolmore intentionally sent turf mares to him in the hopes of producing a global sire.

He hasn't sired a G1SW. But he still has more appeal to buyers as he can get dirt and turf runners.

Pharoah still holds appeal because he has many SW and GSWs across several countries, on dirt and turf. He has also had an upswing in SHs which is a good sign. I would certainle be more interested in buying produce of a stallion who has gotten a recent surge of SHs.

Just checking some results and see that Timber Town (the group that consigned for Mandy Pope) brought 8 horses that have come up so far... sold 1 (War Front / Aloof 230k). 2 RNA'd (125k and 175k) and the other 5 were OUT. Why bother putting Mandy's on the truck just to take them home?

Anyone remember the horse from the 90s, Thoroughbred Corp. horse, ran in the Preakness I think. He had MASSIVE scars from impaling himself on a fence. Looks like that one did something similar, only maybe slid into the fence, where Patience Game went full force head on. I wish I could find a pic of him but I guess it was to long ago and he never really did much.
