A Quality Road filly out of Marvellous was the only horse to break 7 figures, selling for $1.5 million to Joseph Allen. Marvellous won the G1 Irish One Thousands Guineas and has a fantastic pedigree, being by Galileo out of You'resothrilling, a G2 winning full sister to Giant's Causeway. She is also the dam of G1SWs Gleneagles, Happily, G2 Taj Mahal, and G3 Coolmore.

The other top prices of day 1:
f. by Curlin - Our Khrysty - 700k
c. by Into Mischief - Night and Day - 700k
f. by War Front - Miss Chatelaine - 625k
f. by Speightstown - One True Kiss - 600k
c. by Into Mischief - My Wandy's Girl - 600k
c. by Nyquist - Perfect Note - 510k
f. by Jimmy Creed - Rose and Shine - 500k
f. by Medaglia d'Oro - Pretty 'n Smart - 500k
f. by Into Mischief - Quick Flip - 450k

It is interesting to me that 7 out of the top 10 prices on Day 1 were for fillies.

Arrogate's two that went through today were both RNAs.
c. out of Katherine'skadence - RNA 350k
c. out of Last Kitten - RNA 75k

Coolmore bred the sales topper and, since it was purchased by occasional partner Joseph Allen, I wonder if we’ll see her at Ballydoyle next year.

If the Arrogate-Last Kitten is Ramsey owned and bred and was an RNA...does Ramsey take the horse home and race it himself?

Either that or he'll enter him in a 2yo auction next year.
3 sold, 3 were RNAs on day 1 for Ramsey.

$200K to a Japanese buyer.

I think most of them have just sold for around $100K.

Thanks- I’m sure that average was a bit disappointing to Juddmonte

Why do you think there were so many “outs” in this sale?

Because sellers don't realize that the world economy is in a precarious situation?

We haven't seen the Arrogates from the KeeSep sale yet, and the best progeny doesn't always see a sale. Maybe his best are the ones that Juddmonte has bred, and therefore are keeping.

1. The economy is more risky at present
2. Just a coincidence
3. Deciding to wait to sell as a juvenile

$500, 000 for a Jimmy CREED?

As an aside, I wonder if the sire was named after the character in two Black Stallion books

I am surprised at the number of RNAs- would think it would just be best to move these mouths to feed. Then again, who knows what the final real bid was on these so it might not have been close.

I’m thinking the yearling being a half to British Idiom helped a bit

At this rate, next year's two year old sales are going to be bananas.

Also saw that Sackatoga paid $300,000 for NY bred colt - Tiznow X Eternal Grace, by Gilded Time. That's gotta be a record amount spent for them.

Peter Brant got Tapit X American Cleopatra for $360,000 - seems like a steal on paper.

Spendthrift and MyRacehorse.com bought a couple for mid-low six figures, guess they were pretty happy with how their first partnership turned out!

Oh, I didn’t realize that - thanks!

I’m surprised - even with the high RNA- that the Curlin half to HAP didn’t sell.

This one's price surprised me. I didn't have time earlier to really look into the pedigree but you have to go to the 4th dam to find a GSW, with the 4th dam, Carnauaba, being the only G1SW on the page. His half brother Neolithic was a MG1Spw but its a sparse page to bring 1.25m. He was attractive though.
