There would have to be 8 defections for him to get in. That seems unlikely to me. What do you think, MTO?MTO wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 6:03 pm NECKER ISLAND likely pointed to KY DERBY if enough deflections.

Necker Island has earned just 14 points toward the Kentucky Derby. That places him 28th on the points leaderboard, but with a number of defections expected this son of Hard Spun should make the main body of the field...
“If there's any way that there would be an open spot, he will be there for sure,” trainer Chris Hartman told Horse Racing Nation. “I think he'll probably be able to run a mile and a quarter. Class would be the other thing. I don't know. I know Wayne would love to run him in the race and it's going to have to have a lot of things unfold for him to get in there. You never can tell, I guess.”

SPINOFF pointing to G1 Woodward at Saratoga 9/5/2020 if all goes well.
http://classic.drf.com/news/spinoff-ear ... stakes-win
Pletcher doesn’t believe Spinoff is strictly a Saratoga horse, but he will acknowledge the horse definitely likes it in upstate New York.
Spinoff reaffirmed his affinity for Saratoga’s main track with a solid 2 3/4-length victory over 3-5 favorite Endorsed in Sunday’s $85,000 Alydar Stakes
“I think two turns is more of the key,” Pletcher said. “I don’t think he’s a Saratoga-only horse, but he does clearly like it.”
The victory likely earned Spinoff a shot at the Grade 1, $750,000 Woodward Stakes here Sept. 5.
“We placed him ambitiously before, so I don’t see why we wouldn’t give it a try again if he comes out of it well,” Pletcher said.

Well, well, well, SNAP DECISION entered in the Michael G. Walsh Novice Stakes next Wednesday at Saratoga rather than the G1 Turfwriters like his trainer had indicated after his last race. Maybe his owners had other ideas. The Turfwriters looks like a tough one, so this should be a softer spot. But he's the high weight in this spot by 12 to 18 pounds!! They sure seem to take weight assignments seriously in jump racing, unlike the token assignments in flat racing.

They might cross enter in the Turfwriters too. He is nominated to that race as well and is weighted at 3rd high weight at 154. I assume entries will come out today.Happy Endings wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 10:39 pm Well, well, well, SNAP DECISION entered in the Michael G. Thanks, Flanders. You are right. That is a real possibility. Of those I saw on the nomination list for the Turfwriters, I imagine Moscato and Optimus Prime are the ones weighted higher than him. The list I saw didn't show weight assignments.Flanders wrote: ↑Sat Aug 15, 2020 5:17 amThey might cross enter in the Turfwriters too. SNAP DECISION wins again by 5 lengths carrying 165 pounds in the Michael G. Walsh Novice Stakes. That is 7 wins in a row for him. It's been decades since a horse won at a NY track carrying that kind of weight. Reports said 1994 was last time a horse won carrying 160. No one reported exactly when the last time was that a horse won carrying 165.
Belisarius had something wrong with his right hind leg and was pulled up midway in the race. Word from his trainer is that he is fine. Apparently it was that his leg locked up rather than an injury.

HARA ran in the Bolton Landing today and finished next to last and was vanned off because she bled. All 2yo races at Saratoga this summer are designated no Lasix.
