Well, it appears that I'm not the only one who was a little stunned by this. I have just enough ignorance on all this that it never occurred to me that she would be bred back so late in the year.

Do we want to make bets on when zellda will make a start?2021?2022? And will she have any better success than her brothers? All though if she doesn't take to racing, I'm guessing they'd make her a broodmare to keep zenyattas line going

There's zero chance that any progeny of Zenyatta will race before Autumn of its three year old year, especially if they continue to send them to Sheriffs. Having a May or June foal doesn't matter at that point.

If Zellda ends up even starting this year, I'd wager they give her 2 or 3 starts to break her maiden before she gets retired. Unless she ends up being a superstar, but it seems like it's been a while since we've heard anything about her.

I. know he's 27 years old this year so pensioning would certainly be no surprise, but he's still on Winstar's website, and I don't recall hearing that he'd been retired from stud duty.

Its possible Winstar limited his book more because of his age. Last year was the first year he covered under 100 mares since 2001. The mares in this thread are mares who either their owners announced who they were going to or Mariasmon and others have looked up. Also I feel like there is an age when stallions attract less and less big name mares, as breeders look for the next big stallion.
