Dettori looked to have ridden him into an impossible spot but he found a hole just in time. Amazing stayer.

Mohaather won over *I think* Circus Maximus and Siskin in third.

Kameko had a poor trip, nowhere to really run and I think he got 4th. I didn't actually watch it, just listened to the RPLive guys call it.

A poor decision to ride the Goodwood rail by Oisin Murphy compounded by Coolmore team racing tactics. And I say that as a fan of Murphy and Coolmore.

There'd been tons of buzz for Fancy Blue since last fall, nice to see her live up to the hype.

It looks like Donnacha has had more Coolmore horses at this stage in his career than Joseph did. Not sure what to make of that, maybe nothing, but even when he was starting out, I don't remember Joseph having nearly as many ex. AOB Coolmore horses in his care... besides ones that JP McManus bought to be taken over fences.

It sounds like Coolmore is doing all they can to boost Donnacha. I don’t remember this level of support for Joseph. Maybe because he wanted to focus on jumpers?

“I got [Fancy Blue] as a yearling but you don't expect these kind of things," explained O'Brien. "I was looking after her and I was responsible for her but she was under Dad's name. I didn't have my licence but she was with me and the yard was a satellite yard.”

Has Joseph even trained for Coolmore? I ask this because his big flat race winners have all been owned by not Coolmore. From what I read he enjoys training jumpers more, though he still does have alot of flat runners in his stable.

I've read that while he loves training NH horses, eventually he would like to phase his yard into a mostly flat stable, with just a couple jumps horses. Not sure how soon that will happen, as he keeps churning out great results over jumps, especially for horses owned by JP McManus. He said his stable started out at 50/50 flat/jumps, but is now mostly flat. I can't find the article where he mentions that explicitly, it was on the Racing Post sometime last year I think, but he mentions it a bit here:

The British government, on 24 hours' notice, has withdrawn permission for Goodwood to allow 5,000 spectators on Saturday. The final day will now be run without fans, as the previous ones have.

The Jessica Harrington-trained Lucky Vega (Lope de Vega - Queen of Carthage (Cape Cross)) won the Phoenix S (G1) at the Curragh.

So glad to see Space Blues finally get a G1 win, he's had a really good year at G2/G3 level over 7f, and I'm sure him winning at 6 1/2f today will give Charlie Appleby some more options when it comes to keeping him separate from his other 7f horse... Pinatubo. Though as soon as I typed that I saw that Appleby is fully behind the idea of running them both in the 7f Prix De La Foret on Arc weekend if Sheikh Mohammed is up for it. I'd put my money on Space Blues.

Lucky Vega looked fantastic today, electric turn of foot. Jessica Harrington has had a great year and as much as I respect the Coolmore organization, it's nice to see other yards win Irish G1s now and then.

Enable is skipping the Yorkshire Oaks (G1) and will run instead in the September S (G3) at Kempton on the Polytrack as her final Arc prep on 5 September. She used the same race as her prep in 2018, defeating Crystal Ocean.
