That might be who I was thinking of! Lots of US bred mares imported into Australia these days but they are usually unraced well bred ones, trying to keep a eye out for the interesting ones but easy to miss them
Ask me any questions you have about New Zealand and Australia racing

Not sure where else to ask this, but I'm hoping somebody can help me figure out a mystery.
Scent of Summer (half to Paradise Woods) was sold i/f to Union Rags in 2017. The foal would be a 2yo by now but according to Equibase and the Breeders Cup nominations site, the foal doesn't exist. I assumed that meant she lost it at some point, but then, according to Pedigree Query, she foaled a colt named Join the Joy (https://www.pedigreequery.com/join+the+joy).
Not really sure what to make of it. Any thoughts?

PQ is open source (I believe that is the term), so anyone can edit it, add horses, etc with some limitations. I believe the people who run the site are generally good about correcting misinformation, but obviously they can't monitor every aspect of the site every minute of the day. People add fake progeny, add fantasy horses, etc. You can use PQ to make your own pedigrees to download and so I believe people get confused on how you do that, and end up adding fake horses to the database.
It's possible the breeders of her foal went ahead and added the foal with what they wanted to name her before she was actually registered ot born. I will go to Equineline and check.
ETA: Not on Equineline. My guess is that the breeders did a gender test on the mare while pregnant and added the foal with what they planned to name it with a color guess, and then she didn't foal.

I delete fake horses off PQ anytime I see them, which is probably 1-2 a week. People who play fantasy horse racing add them to get pedigree pages, fans add them to see pedigrees of crosses, which I don't understand the need. You can use equineline and do a hypo-mating.KatieK101 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 1:05 pm Not sure where else to ask this, but I'm hoping somebody can help me figure out a mystery.
