Thanks, Northport. I just can't wrap my head around why anyone would give it to a male horse. I know you explained that it's helpful for extremely spooky and skittish horses, but I am not quite sure that is true of Alligator Blood. I'll have to do some more digging.

well Enable sure made that look easy - she is certainly something special - - i do love that Sovereign though.... a horse who runs with a happy joyful spirit - but second today to the great Enable - and that is nothing to be ashamed about.

Surely there are natural options for spooky horses?
The bottom line is that he tested positive for a prohibited substance. It doesn't matter why they gave it to him. They aren't crying "contamination" or denying it, it looks like, so what's their defense gonna be at the appeal hearing?

I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

That's a great question! The two Americans who immediately come to mind are Wise Dan and Lady Eli, but certainly Enable is running against the best competition there is. Lovely to see her win today, even if the field was a bit disappointing.
Edited to add Forego, and to my memory McKinzie has the chance to be the first male horse to win one on at 2,3,4, and 5 on dirt this year.

Beholder won G1 races every year she ran, which was five.

It's a medication given to female horses to keep them from coming into heat and if they're pregnant to help prevent aborting the foal. Why would you give this to a boy?
Owners are appealing of course.

It's not to do with skittish behaviour. It's most often given to geldings to help control overly studdish behaviour, that even the gelding has failed to quell.
