T. V. Lark was champion on the track and, as you said, Leading Sire in 1974. When he went to stud, it was still the era when the sales ring did not drive the entire sport as it does today. So he lived out his life at Hamburg Place and was buried there. And that's a kindly thing, a good thing. He might be obscure today, but his life was a good one.
Also broodmare sire of the great Chris Evert. He was the real deal.
I had completely forgotten about Chris Evert, who was the granddam of Chief's Crown and a whole batch of well-bred fillies through Six Crowns, her daughter by Secretariat. I think there are probably quite a few T.V. Lark descendants around after all. Thanks, Equipoise!

Lovely Day(JPN)(King Kamehameha) sired his first JRA winner, as his 2yo filly Jacaranda Lane(JPN) [o/o Uliuli(JPN) by Deep Impact(JPN)] won her debut very impressively going 1400m turf Newcomer at Hanshin 5R on July 4th 2020.

Her owner Makoto Kaneko all owned & raced Lovely Day(JPN)(sire), King Kamehameha(JPN)(sire's sire), Popcorn Jazz(JPN)(sire's dam), Uliuli(JPN)(dam), Deep Impact(JPN)(dam's sire) and Wikiwiki(JPN)(second dam). 8-)
Her dam Uliuli(JPN) is a full sister to Japanese Derby winner Makahiki who is also owned by Makoto Kaneko.

By far his biggest influence today is through Miss Carmie and her daughters, including Chris Evert. But he is in strangely enough, in both Gamine and Charlatan's pedigrees through Quack.

Another fairly large family is Banshee Winds, though the ill-fated Banshee Breeze was probably the best that family produced, Old Friends resident, Patch, is from the family.

I had no idea! It's true that you can find almost anyone if you go far enough back, but I fell oddly comforted to know that the T.V. Lark legacy lives on! (Of course my avatar Native Diver had no opportunity to procreate, ;) )

I have seen T.V. Lark's grandson It's Freezing appear on the damside of many top level winners. The main horses that come to mind are My Miss Sophia and her siblings and Afleet Express and his siblings. They stem from mare Ice Fantasy (It's Freezing x Donna's Answer).

ETA: There is also the mare Antifreeze (It's Freezing x I'm Really Smokin) who produced 15 winners from 17 foals. She had a handful of stakes horses, with a handful of daughters producing stakes horses. One daughter, Stormy Gigi is the dam of new G3W Cali stallion G. G. Ryder.

Curlin too! Clearly the bloodline is safe! Thanks for all the information; I thought I was up to date on his progeny, but obviously not so much.

this is just like a blast from my childhood past--I don't even remember why T.V. Lark was my favorite (he was foaled in 1957 when I was five years old) but racing was on TV on Saturdays and my mom was a fan--T.V. Lark didn't even do his best running in California; he defeated the mighty Kelso at least twice on the East Coast and also won the Laurel International--an early fun race inviting foreign runners. His sire, Indian Hemp, was a son of Nasrullah but was primarily a speed sire--his son Hempen was very very fast. T. V. Lark was the essence of a high quality runner who came out of nowhere and it is surprising that he was able to do as well as he did at stud. But as has been mentioned, there was more breeding to race than to sell and his foals generally got to the track.

Geez, i feel old. Oh wait, I AM old!

Antifreeze is still alive at the age of 29 at Dixiana Farm where I work.

Avalyn Hunter notes on her webpage (see link below) that Tumble Lark (T.V.Lark-Tumbling-War Admiral) led the Brazilian sire lists three times in the 1970s and 80s. (I know a little more than nothing about Brazilian breeding, and haven't been able to ascertain if Tumble Lark's sire line is still active.)

Amazing to find that much information preserved about an obscure horse! Although I do remember the name--I followed all of T.V. Lark's offspring as best I could (largely by writing and asking for copies of sale catalogues--the day in the fall when the Keeneland package arrived was a day for celebration!).

She’s a sweetheart for sure! She’s out with her boyfriend Personal First, who is obsessed with her. And yes he’s gelded lol. Her foals were tough, but they could run! I’ll definitely give her a soft peppermint once I get the time to head over to the Domino division.
