Crossfirehurricane had a bad start and never had a chance.
It looked like someone pulled up late and the rider was about to jump off. :(
Hmm..I didn't see that. It was absolutely pouring over there.
Might as well have been using a kaleidoscope and not a camera midway through the race, couldn’t even make out the horses!
Poor Sherpa :(
Hopefully, Santiago (and the rest of the O’Brien runners) all get a break and don’t appear at Epsom next week!

They changed their mind on retiring Magical and she is entered in the Pretty Polly S.(G1) today.

Heffernan, who along with O'Brien was completing a treble on the day following the partnership's heroics in the June 27 Irish Derby (G1), suggested afterward that Magical, whom he was riding for the first time, is as good a horse as he has sat on.

That is quite a statement from a 47-year-old who has thrown his leg over the likes of Galileo, High Chaparral, Yeats, and Dylan Thomas.

Did anyone see 7yo Way To Paris win the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud? I try hard not to be a Pretty Pony Poster, but this nearly white horse was quite eye-catching. Definitely takes after broodmare sire Cozzene.

2yo f Time Scale won the listed Empress Fillies’ S at Newmarket today. It’s noteworthy because it was her third start this month. She ran 7th in her debut on 4 June and won her next race on 15 June.

This is an interesting horse.

His dam Grey Way was a champion in Italy.

Grey Way raced in Italy, France, Canada, USA, and Great Britain.

She is also the dam of Distant Way, a G1W in Italy.

Way To Paris's third dam is a half-sister to Numbered Account.

Way To Paris is beautiful. I hope this 7yo entire has a great season, because I really want to see him stand at a top farm and carry on his sire's bloodline.
We lost Champs Elysees a year-and-a-half ago, at just 15. Champs Elysees wasn't just a very good race horse; his pedigree (Danehill - Hasili (IRE), by Kahyasi (IRE)) was about as royally-bred as you can find.

An awesome field is shaping up for the Coral-Eclipse (G1) on Sunday, headed by Enable. Ghaiyyath, Lord North, Japan, Magic Wand, and Deirdre are also entered.

People who were watching on RTE in Ireland said that networked confirmed he was euthanized, but I haven't seen it in print.

Ok, thank you. I've been looking online and nothing popped up. Granted I haven't looked at twitter.

I've noticed quite a few writers/analysts are questioning Kameko's stamina ability. Not saying he's Stradivarius or anything but I don't think it's that big of a question.

Kitten's Joy has sired horses who have won G1s at the 1 1/2 mile distance (BBK, Sadler's Joy, etc) and there is some stamina on the female side.

Racehorse Memorial Wall Worldwide lists Sherpa as "fatally injured", per "Timeform, Racing Post"

1 1/2 in North America isn’t really the same as 1 1/2 at Epsom. Roaring Lion couldn’t quite get 1 1/2 but was unbeatable at 1 1/4.

Ive heard/read a couple interviews with Oisin Murphy, Kameko’s jockey. Whenever someone asks if he thinks the horse will get the trip, he said he has tried not to think about it or analyze his pedigree for clues. He said he’s going to give him a ride somewhere between assuming he will get the trip vs dropping him into the middle of the pack and putting him to sleep and protecting/preserving the horse for one sweeping move coming into the home turn.

On the topic of American stallions... Im lowkey rooting for Worthily. Once raced son of Point of Entry, trained by John Gosden for George Strawbridge.

Racehorse Memorial Wall International has Sherpa on the deceased list as fatally injured, with "Timeform, Racing Post" listed as source. (I haven't personally been able to find other mention but maybe somebody familiar with those two publications could dig it out.)

Yes!

Lammtarra won the 1995 Derby in his 2nd lifetime start... after one run in August of his two year old year, so I meannnn.... it's not impossible for Worthily to hit the board. John Gosden isn't one to enter a horse in the Derby just to have a runner (cough*Lukas*cough).

The unfortunate COVID scenario has made this one of the most fascinating Derbies in recent memory, a lot of horses have legitimate claims and most are very unexposed types.

Kameko - Guineas winner with doubts on stamina, would be great for connections to have another star after the loss of Roaring Lion
Mogul - bred in the purple, but disappointed on reappearance when 4th in the King Edward at Royal Ascot handily beaten by Pyledriver, but he was visibly overweight and unfit then. This week, Aidan O'Brien can't stop raving about how far he has come since that race and he's now the #1 Ballydoyle pick.
Pyledriver - gets the trip, already beaten Mogul once. Would be fun if a horse that RNA'd for 10,000 guineas won the Derby.
English King - won the Lingfield Derby trial in amazing fashion. If he won the Derby by 5 lengths or finished 9th I wouldn't really be surprised.
Khalifa Sat - won the 1m3f Listed Cocked Hat Stakes, will be ridden by Tom Marquand, who got jocked off of English King, wouldn't mind seeing him hit the frame.
Emissary - half to Derby and Arc winner Workforce, finished 2nd to Khalifa Sat in the Cocked Hat Stakes, yet he is 28/1 and Khalifa Sat is 50/1.
Vatican City - 2nd in the Irish 2,000 Guineas, out of You'resothrilling, a sister to Giant's Causeway. A lot of people are concerned he won't get the trip because full siblings include G1 winners Gleneagles, Marvellous, Happily, who never won beyond a mile. He's also full to Taj Mahal, who two G2s in Australia over 1m4f... so at 9/1 I think he has a great chance. Padraig Beggy knows how to spring a surprise in a Derby.
Serpentine - "is there on his merits" aka will be the pacemaker
Russian Emperor - won over 1m2f at Ascot, beating Berlin Tango, who won the Lingfield Derby Trial ahead of Pyledriver. Out of an Australian G1 winner over 1m2f.
Worthily - see above

etc, etc.

Idk, it's just such an open year. If Mogul wins it'll be kind of boring though.

English King drew the dreaded stall #1, though. No horse has won from there since Oath in 1999. Mogul drew #2, so not much better. I agree it’s a wide-open renewal.

It’s a grreat weekend of racing: the Epsom and French Derbies and Oaks and Enable’s return in the Coral-Eclipse.

What if it turns out to be a duel between Russian Emperor and English King down the stretch? Lol.
