Makfi(GB)(Dubawi) sired his first JRA winner of his first Japanese crop, when his 2yo colt Luce d'Oro(JPN) [o/o Arafune(JPN) by Kurofune(USA)] won his debut going 1000m dirt Newcomer at Hakodate in 2yo track record on June 27th 2020.

Champion and Sire Manduro Suffers Fatal Heart Attack

He didn't set the world on fire as a stallion, but he did sire a couple of group I winners.

Really, I remember him most as being the near-black German horse who went on a tear for Andre Fabre in France and England and seemed to be getting better all the time. Fabre was quite high on him too. I also remember how disappointed I was when he was injured a few months before the Arc, in which he would have seemed... well, almost unbeatable.

No. Though Protectionist's and Vadamos' first crops are 2 this year. He doesn't have a lot of sons at stud.

Novellist is in Japan, but I do not think he had made a huge impact yet with a few crops out there. Too bad Manduro's best runner is a gelding. Considering Maxios did his best running at a mile, I would be more than happy to still try to get a good flat runner by him despite the fact he has been banished to the NH side of things.

None of the ones who have multiple crops racing are successful as flat sires. Manduro was by far the best son he had at stud, with 35 SWs from 566 starters.

Between Masterstroke, Maxios, and Novellist, all whose first crops are 5yos, they collectively have 7 SWs from 500 starters. That isn't good.

Shirocco has 33 SWs from 796 starters, his first crop was born in 2008. He is a National Hunt stallion.

I really think he has more sons at stud. Its just not that easy to find a list. But as this article says, people don't want to support European Classic Distance stallions so most went to National Hunt farms. https://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/p ... of-monsun/

2003 Horse of the Year and Arc winner Dalakhani enjoys retirement at the Aga Khan's Haras d’Ouilly. Pensioned since 2016, Dalakhani is now 20.

Sea the Stars' son, Sea the Moon, is now a top sire in Britain. This makes me happy for a couple of reasons: (1) I like Sea the Stars a lot, and (2) Ridan appears in the maternal side of Sea the Moon's pedigree. Even though it's in the 4th generation, it's really good to see Ridan's name in a pedigree after all these years.

I feel the same whenever I see T.V. Lark in a pedigree, although he's only holding on by a thread.

Still, for a Cal-bred with a pretty obscure pedigree, he did pretty good--led the general sire list one year.

Lord Kanaloa(JPN)(King Kamehameha) sired his first European group winner, when his 3yo filly Know It All(GB) [o/o Common Knowledge(GB) by Rainbow Quest(USA)] won beautifully the G3 Derrinstown Stud Fillies Stakes 1610m turf at Leopardstown on July 1st.
Know It All's 3rd dam is Highclere(GB).

T. V. Lark was champion on the track and, as you said, Leading Sire in 1974. When he went to stud, it was still the era when the sales ring did not drive the entire sport as it does today. So he lived out his life at Hamburg Place and was buried there. And that's a kindly thing, a good thing. He might be obscure today, but his life was a good one.

Yes, I've visited his grave (although it was moved when the farm became a shopping/business center).

Also broodmare sire of the great Chris Evert. He was the real deal.
