Yes he certainly was. He did have the good 2yo Cobra King though not sure if that was the year he raced. I got my years mixed up for Deerhound, he was a freshman in 1996 not 1997 and I had convinced myself he had to be the winner, no wonder I couldn't find any articles.ThreeMustangs wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 5:09 pmYou’re welcome. Farma Way was a surprise.Flanders wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 4:50 pmThank you so much!ThreeMustangs wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 12:03 pm I dug out my 2005 Thoroughbred Times Racing Almanac and it has the leading freshman sires back to 1975. Here are your missing years:
1986 Sportin’ Life
1995 Farma Way
1997 Gilded Time
I find 1981 interesting, I know I saw this list in print at some point but Turn and Count was an unknown to me. He died in 1980 before his foals ever raced but he got 11 (8%) Stakes Winners from the 146 foals he sired. He was also a decent runner with a record of (19) 9-7-0 with wins in three G2 Stakes and he set a NTR at Aqueduct for 1m70yds.
