They're planning to stand Promises Fulfilled, I think. I imagine they also intend to stand Improbable when he retires.

I like Promises Fulfilled. But, he suffers from "Dad Got Exported" -itis.

completely agree. i understand it's a business and businesses exist for money but dang, they're on some very, very extreme end of the spectrum.

Speaking of leading sire lists, I wonder what's gonna happen with this year's.

The current leading sire is New Year's Day, who has $10,614,829 in earnings. Why? Because 1 horse won 1 race* with an exorbitant $10 million purse. His only other stakes winner this year IIRC is G2W Fighting Mad.

In second place is Midnight Lute with $5,055,023. About $5 million away from tying NYD. ML's earnings are also boosted largely by a horse who finished second in the aforementioned big race, but he also has several other stakes horses this year, like G1W Keeperof the Stars. Third is Tapit with $4,966,008.

We are currently about halfway through the racing year that has been greatly impacted by a pandemic. Tapits and Lutes are gonna have to win every race they run in if they want to catch up to NYD. This doesn't seem fair to me.

*said horse was juiced.

My Girl Red just won SA R2 to become Texas Red’s first winner. Appropriately enough, she is trained by Keith Desormeaux.

BloodHorse just showed me an ad for Commissioner, who has a higher % of blacktype horses than Tonalist, Summer Front, Palace Malice, Honor Code, etc. Lol.

If recent trends are to continue, can we take bets on how quickly one of his kids wins a G1?

I don't think that stat means he's done better than several of those horses, but he was off to a really nice start - I'm not even sure how much people expected from him.

I'm still furious.

I was just quoting what the ad said, lol. But considering how successful the horses listed are (especially Summer Front, wow @ him) he was doing pretty decent to have that stat.

When dealing with a commercial marketplace, it isn't about the percentage of stakes horses, or even winners. It becomes about getting "the big horse"- that is when the commercial breeders can start expecting to hit homeruns with a sire. Case in point- I will be very interested in seeing the American Pharoah yearlings sell this fall if he doesn't have Gr1 stakes winner by then. They (especially the fillies) will still have the mare power working for them, though.

I'm still not sure which side of the Atlantic will produce the first G1 winner for American Pharoah. Monarch of Egypt had a terrible trip in the Irish 2,000 Guineas, finishing 7 of 11, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him wheeled around for the St James's Palace at Royal Ascot on Saturday if quarantine restrictions allow it. Elfin Queen also made a nice 3 year old debut at Naas last week... if Love goes for the Oaks, and Peaceful's next race tbd, maybe Elfin Queen could be part of the Ballydoyle battalion for the Coronation Stakes?

2018 G1 Criterium International winner Royal Meeting has been retired and sold to stand at Aquis Farm in Australia. He was trained by Saeed Bin Suroor for Godolphin, winning the Criterium on his 2nd start (defeating duel 1,000 Guineas winner Hermosa in the process), though he was never able to regain that form. Considering he was an early colt by Invincible Spirit, perhaps the hottest sire of sires in Australia right now, he should get support from the less expensive end of the market.

It'd be interesting if France got the first G1W for Pharoah- Ocean Atlantique. I believe OA is being pointed to the Prix du Jockey Club in July.

Duel Breeders Cup Turf winner (and St Leger and King George winner) Conduit has died at age 15 from 'an acute brain injury'

He stood the first 6 years of his stallion career at Big Red, then moved to Tullyraine Stud in Northern Ireland in 2016.

Oh no... We're they in Venezuela when this happened? This is the first I've heard about it.
