RIP champion. A longer and happier life we would all be blessed to have.

I’d be interested to see someone better at it than me “dive back” and see how far back the old man is in pedigrees now.

A long life well lived indeed.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

You can tell by the photos how appreciated and loved he was by his caretakers in Japan. Although I'm sure good genes played a role, they did a tremendous job caring for him.

Run free amongst the clouds, Forty Niner.

Lucky boy indeed, if only they all had such a life and could live so long.

I will still never forgive Woody Stephens for what he did to this horse. He sacrificed him to execute a grudge. And he said he was going to do it before the race was even run!

Forty Niner was a Champion and a very special horse. He didn't deserve that. Woody was a great trainer, but he lost the respect that he'd earned after all those years with that move.

Sorry, but that's the way I feel.

It's very touching to see the appreciation and respect Japan has for these horses.
