I very well could be overestimating him, but I think plenty are also overpaying in Kentucky.

Of course they are. That's part of the industry, and the risk inherent within it. And it's cyclical and driven by supply and demand. It's the same reason why I paid a lot more for my house on long island than I would for the identical house in Greensboro, NC.CorridorZ75 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 10:36 pm I very well could be overestimating him, but I think plenty are also overpaying in Kentucky.

Stud fees and book limits for Turkish Jockey Club-owned stallions:
1 Turkish lira = 0.17 USD so these are all very cheap by American standards but purse money and horse sale prices are lower there as well. They seem to have big expectations for Bodemeister and Super Saver, pricing them the same as their #1 stallion Victory Gallop. I imagine that mares that don't get into Victory Gallop's very select book are going to go to those two.

According to the Aus studbook Mendelssohn only covered 71 mares in Aus in 2019 (Justify covered 149) Caravaggio doesnt have his 2019 returns updated but covered 143 in 2018.

Interesting. Wouldn't surprise me to see them shuffle Mendelssohn off to South America then for the upcoming season. Can't see them giving a young stallion a season break when there's money to be made.

No. You can only use it to see basic information on a horse without a subscription.FlyToTheStars wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 9:18 pmIs the Aus studbook able to be seen without subscription?

I don't think Caravaggio shuttled in 2019. He was supposed to but something happened. I think they replaced him by sending No Nay Never? Maybe you could check is NNN covered mares? I might be remembering wrong.

I found an article about Caravaggio not going to Australia in 2019. I'm just assuming this is why they added No Nay Never to the shuttle list in August 2019, as he wasn't originally scheduled to go.
https://www.tdnausnz.com.au/edition/201 ... foundation
From that article:
"Caravaggio is a shuttle stallion tailor-made for success in Australia. He possessed blistering speed, coupled with an outcross pedigree and powerful physique that make him ideal for Australian conditions," Tom Moore, Coolmore Australia Marketing & Nominations, said.
"It is very unfortunate that he sustained an injury which meant he couldn’t travel this year, however he will return in 2020, and given the class of his first foals he will be very popular once again."

Ah, that makes sense. I was comparing the original 2019 press release that Coolmore had on their site (which had Caravaggio) to the 2020 release, which is why there was no mention of No Nay Never in 2019, since he was added in a separate statement 10 days later.
Considering No Nay Never ended up standing in Australia in 2019 for A$44,000 (compared to 100,000 euros in Ireland), I'm surprised he only covered 80ish mares.
In the articles I've read about Caravaggio not shuttling in 2019, it said that the plan was for him to shuttle in 2020, I wonder why he is staying in Ireland again.
