Great to see him back in action, but I hope he goes somewhere else. Hard Spun's worst race was there. Jones said he didn't like the surface. No Hard Spun baby has ever done anything of note there.

Racing is just about halted due to Covid. Can't be choosy about tracks when most of them are shut down. Where else do you suggest he run a graded stakes?

Wait until other tracks open, perhaps, I don't know. Not my call. Just pointing out that Hard Spun offspring have a horrible record at Oaklawn. Hidden Scroll is just getting started back into running and I worry about him getting discouraged all over again. Maybe he will be an exception and handle the track fine. I could suggest Gulfstream, which is open and he has run well there in the past.

That's disappointing. He was never setting the world on fire, but he is/was a pretty classy dude. Isn't he still intact? It's surprising to me that nobody (a la Spendthrift or a regional farm) has tried to make a stud deal for him.
Soylent green is....tasty!!!

Horrible finish for Hidden Scroll. He stopped like he dropped an anchor. The track? I hope that was it.

Timeline a well distanced last.

I rest my case about this track. Hard Spuns do awful there.

Blinkers were the ticket for Hard n'Sweet today. Poor horse has an improperly spelled name. It should be Hard 'n' Sweet or sometimes Hard 'n Sweet. Never the way it is. Ignorance is bliss for some people.
Anyway, the horse with the improperly contracted "and" in his name was a winner today by 12 lengths! In race #3 at Tampa Bay. And he was claimed.

Replay will be up here tomorrow, I guess: http://www.tampabaydowns.com/racing/replays-details

Meanwhile, it's here: https://www.tvg.com/results

Here's hoping they go at Gulfstream. This is going to be an upside down year for the 3-year-olds!

Trainer Stanley Hough entered both Necker Island and South Bend in the Unbridled with the intention to start only one and running the other in next weekend's English Channel, a 1 1/16-mile turf stakes for 3-year-olds.

“I'll probably run Necker Island on the dirt and South Bend on the grass,” Hough said. “But I did want to try Necker Island on the grass also and I did want to try South Bend back on the dirt.”

Necker Island, who is owned by Hough and Sagamore Farm LLC, closed out his 2-year-old season with a maiden victory at seven furlongs and an optional claiming allowance win at a mile around one turn at Churchill Downs. The son of Hard Spun finished fifth in the seven-furlong Swale (G3) at Gulfstream Feb. 1 and fifth in the Gotham (G2) at Aqueduct in his two starts this year. Both races were won by Mischevious Alex.

“Going seven-eighths, the speed got away. There wasn't anything he could do about it. I think a mile and a sixteenth will be better at Gulfstream,” Hough said. “He came back against the same horse going a mile, but again I think the two turns will be better for him.”

Sagamore Farm LLC's South Bend ......” Hough said. “If I should run him, then I'll probably run Necker Island next week on the grass.”

Another photo of SPUN TO RUN the day before getting a bubble bath! He's so handsome.

And this shows why he probably needed a bath (though this particular episode was a month earlier): https://twitter.com/HoganEquine/status/ ... 04453?s=20
