For a country with 2 presidents, you think they could control stuff like that.
Oh wait, that is democratic socialism at its finest. All the Bernie supporters should look to see what kind of future they have to look forward to should he win.
Yup, "take the political stuff elsewhere". Sure thing. But guess what, bad politics has a bearing on life in general.
When people are hungry and don't have food to feed their families, they eat what they can. Why do you think horse is so popular in Italy?
During WWII horses were handy as a food source.
Killing in Florida? Look at the populations there. Lots of folks from Central and South America. Fleeing the socialist utopia. Why? Socialism is wonderful. Eat zoo animals and horses. Have you seen the video of men killing a cow with stones? It's disgusting but these poor people are dying of hunger, so who can blame them.
From the Miami Herald:
"The Venezuelan population in the United States experienced a growth of 352 percent between 2000 and 2017, an explosive increase that experts attribute, in part, to the exodus caused by the ongoing economic and political crisis in Venezuela.
The number of Venezuela-born residents increased from 93,000 to 421,000 during that period and 52 percent of Venezuelan nationals live in Florida, 11 percent in Texas and 4 percent in New York, according to a Pew Research Center analysis of Hispanics in the United States." (Sept. 19, 2019)
So call me all kinds of crazy, but I'm entitled to my opinion, even if you think it's wrong. And as mentioned in a previous thread, I too can walk and chew gum at the same time.

Halfway to Heaven Gets Third Group 1 Winner

Halfway to Heaven's ascent to brilliant broodmare is all the more remarkable for her history.
As detailed in a Racing Post article by Michele MacDonald last year, she nearly drowned in a flood, later injured herself crashing through a poll fence, and on yet another occasion got loose in a vineyard and lacerated herself on wires.

Out loss is Japan's gain (again). Was Jaywalk a private purchase? I don't remember her going through the ring.
On a related note, does America ever buy mares from other countries? I know we import a lot of racemares such as Blue Prize and Sistercharlie, but I don't often hear of American representatives going to other countries and buying from their actions.

Jaywalk's sale was private it was mentioned a month or so ago in this thread.KatieK101 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 2:29 pm Out loss is Japan's gain (again). Was Jaywalk a private purchase? I don't remember her going through the ring.

I don't know how often they go and buy from auctions but they at least private purchase. Look at the Keeneland September sale, there are a lot of dam's born outside the US. I would assume at least part were bought. Stonestreet sold the Curlin colt that was super expensive, they bought his dam at auction in Australia along with some other mares. Or owners buy racing mares and import them, like Jolie Olimpica and Lady Prancealot. These are just recent examples too, there are tons.

Barber purchased G3 winner Power Gal from Japan, I believe.

Heavenly Cat has turned out to be some producer. Mr. Freeze just added another GS to his resume, and she's also produced G3Ws Delimma and Heavenly Ransom; as well as Zayanna, the dam of G1W Wicked Whisper, G2W Point of Honor, and a pricey Union Rags filly recently named Zuri.
I haven't done much digging, but does anyone know if her other daughters have produced anything notable?

Heavenly Ransom has produced MSP Red Wings, but the others haven't produced a lot. They've produced a couple of $100K+ earners though. A couple of them are young and don't have kids on the track.KatieK101 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 01, 2020 6:16 pm Heavenly Cat has turned out to be some producer. Thanks, I forgot about Red Wings. I was checking out Siena Farm’s website and actually noticed Zayanna isn’t listed in their broodmare band anymore, and she definitely used to be. Anyone know if she’s been sold?Mylute wrote: ↑Sun Mar 01, 2020 6:19 pmHeavenly Ransom has produced MSP Red Wings, but the others haven't produced a lot. She wasn't sold in auction, she doesn't have an export or death report but also wasn't bred for a 2020 foal.KatieK101 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 01, 2020 6:58 pmThanks, I forgot about Red Wings. Ashado's gonna go soon over on Foal Patrol. Been pacing and trying to lay down for an hour. They've got her tail wrapped and are ready to go...

New Money Honey might foal tonight/early this morning.
It would be funny if both of the overdue mares decided to drop 'em within hours of each other.

Look like New Money Honey is holding on, camera has just gone down and it looks like they’ll be taking her out to the paddock. Perhaps later on tonight though? Fingers crossed!Mylute wrote: ↑Sat Mar 07, 2020 1:06 am New Money Honey might foal tonight/early this morning.

Per PQ, Potesta was retired after suffering a life-threatening colyndar fracture. It's possible they have opted to pension her because her leg is acting up again.starrydreamer wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 11:34 amNothing on Jockey Club - no export pending or death report.
Per the Breeders' Cup site, though, she was bred to Good Magic for 2020. No foal is reported on that site yet, though. She delivered a Ghostzapper filly last year. It's also possible she was sold privately.
