Casta Diva is born and bred back in New Zealand, Australia. She was brought as a yearling I believe.

Yes, figured tonight was the night. Her body changed shape quite a bit from yesterday to today.
Sunken in around her hips and that very V pointed belly you see right at the end.

Curious why they got her up mid labour and were in shoulder deep. Assume tring to reposition foal a bit.....?

That’s exactly what they were doing. It’s a lot easier to reposition the foal when the mare is standing up. My god is she trying hard not to push this foal out

That was a rough foaling. Poor foal was stuck pretty good at the hips, but they managed to get it out. Smart idea to give the foal oxygen, and it’s alive

Yes, that was a struggle. 3:30Am here and I was just begging her to go down earlier and get this over with.
I think she almost made a 360 on the ground, while they were trying to wedge that baby out. Poor gal.

I hope they are both alright. It was really rough on both of them.

Is something wrong or is he just super tired?

A guy came in a few minutes ago, gave mom a treat, and then examined him head to toe. He barely moved (he's sprawled out on his side on the hay). He has still not moved from what I've seen.

Foal is currently up and nursing

ETA: there’s also a video up on their page explaining why the delivery was so difficult, apparently it’s a very big colt too.

Having said that, I’m not sure if this is normal but the foal’s right hind leg looks very off. Hopefully that’s just a newborn thing and it will correct itself very quickly.

Ooh! A big boy!

When the person came in and examined the foal he examined the right hind leg. He picked it up and stretched it.
