I just wish American Pharaoh and Harvey's Little Goil weren't in the same sentence. Ugh. Nice win, but that needs to go to the horrible names thread.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Its not a great name. I wonder if breeder Harvey Clarke was a fan of Harley Quinn from Batman or if his family named the filly after he passed away in January 2019. If it was the latter, which I would assume, there is probably some kind of sentimental reason for the name. Maybe he called the filly Little Girl and the family or even a grandchild, wanted to name her Harvey's Little Girl in remembrance but that is to many letters, so they tried to throw a Harley Quinn spin on it.

Maybe it was from one of the Batman animated series but to me, she is associated with goil, as soon as I saw it I thought Harley Quinn. She had a strong accent and called herself Mistah J's Goil. If you google it, its all Harley Quinn pictures.

Harvey's Lil Goil romped by 7.5 lengths in the Busanda (Ungraded, Black Type). The final time was very slow (1.54.49 for 9f) but she won geared down. Who knows what she's capable of under pressure.

More like an "All in the Family" spin! The dam is Gloria S. (Tapit-Arch's Gal Edith, by Arch) and Gloria Stivic was the married name of Archie and Edith Bunker's daughter on the classic '70s sitcom. Archie would often address Gloria as "little goil." I got the connection immediately when I saw the pedigree.Flanders wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 12:08 pmIts not a great name.
