Jealous! Any insight on why exactly we dont get this sort of thing more in the US? I mean, without a foal at her side, of course.Flanders wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 1:45 pm Black Caviar to parade before the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning on Saturday at Flemington.

Black Caviar has today had a meeting with her 2yo daughter stabled at Flemington. Apparently they spent a good 5 minutes standing nose to nose like this

Kind (dam of Frankel) has sadly slipped her 2020 Galileo.

I’m sorry to hear she is gone. I hope she was her ornery self to the end.Summer Bird wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 3:24 pm Claiborne just shared that Preach, the dam of Pulpit has passed away at the age of 31.

Aww, how sad, but she lived a long and happy life, and she'll live on through her brilliant son, Pulpit.Summer Bird wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 3:24 pm Claiborne just shared that Preach, the dam of Pulpit has passed away at the age of 31.

Stakes winner March X Press (Shanghai Bobby) delivered a colt by Tapit on February 11. She will ship to Australia this summer to continue her career at Newgate Farm.

From Walker Hancock's Twitter account:
https://twitter.com/WalkerHancock/statu ... 4402543617When one chapter ends, a new one begins. The night after Preach passed away, her daughter Orate, foaled this attractive Empire Maker filly.

Not going to directly link the video because it's graphic, but Jose L. Verenzuela posted a video to twitter that Venezuelan champion mare El Comediante and Grade 1 winner Ocean Bay were completely butchered at their farm in an act of vandalism. They were both in-foal.
He @'ed Blood Horse and Turf Diario.
EDIT: So I did some more digging and it looks like the victims are actually Jordyn Macoma, the dam of champion Comediante, and Stellar Babe, the dam of Ocean Bay.
Jordyn Macoma was a US-bred daughter of Dynaformer who has produced multiple graded winners in Venezuela. Stellar Babe was a daughter of With Approval who was stakes-placed in the US. Also, Ocean Bay is a stallion.

Words fail me except to say we are hearing of far too many of these incidents lately.Mylute wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2020 3:04 pm Not going to directly link the video because it's graphic, but Jose L. are these incidents on the rise, very suddenly, or... ??
still curious if this is going to impact overseas sales (private sales, not sure there's anything you can do when selling at an auction - do correct me if i'm wrong, i'm here to learn)

I'm wondering if these kind of incidents happen more commonly with, like the incidents in Florida, average pet horses and we only hear about the thoroughbred ones? Or if its just some sick people trying to get some kind of notoriety? Its still happened more in Florida than anywhere else that I've heard of.
I know its slightly off topic but a woman in Florida had to move her horses to another location after people broke into her barn 2 different nights and tied ropes tightly around her horses necks.

Venezuela is currently in an economic crisis. It has gotten to the point where zoos have been raided and zoo animals, like cougars, are being slaughtered for meat. So, the fact that this happened isn't shocking. This has probably happened multiple times to other farms but we haven't heard about it because they're small operations.
I found the Peru farm raid surprising because the group seemed to have specifically targeted a large farm and kill older stallions, instead of a smaller unsuspecting farm, and because (as far as I knew and currently know) Peru is not in the current economic state that Venezuela is.
