SPUN TO RUN scratched from Peg WC due to skin disease over much of his body. Trainer mentioned skin problem the other day as not a big deal. It must have gotten a lot worse.
EDIT: More info...it's hives. Will regroup and possibly point to Godolphin Mile.

Donegal Aces won a maiden claiming race #10 off the turf at Gulfstream Park today. His record is now 5-1-2-0. He is a full brother to Hard Aces.

I think Malpais finished last or close to it in race #6 at Houston. Stonerside Sprint Stakes. First race back in 8 months. Got of rather slow then was rushed up to contend right off the pace. Ran out of gas soon after that. Kind of a tough spot off the layoff.

Out For A Spin finished last, too, in the Houston Ladies Classic (G3) today. Same thing kind of happened to her. Didn't break very fast, was rushed up to track the leader and then ran out of gas. Perplexing ride, just like the other.

New Darley Hard Spun movie. They left out his win over Street Sense and second in BCC, but it' still good.

GREEN LIGHT GO nominate to both G3 Swale and Holly Bull at Gulfstream on Feb 1. More likely for Swale. Hate to see these 2 Hard Spun colts run against each other.

Lots of rain coming into Gulfstream Park all day Sat 2/1/2020 and it rained over night.
Likely a sloppy or muddy track for the Swale . Trainer had scratched Green Light Go back in the fall from a G1 race rather than run on a sloppy track. But he was focusing on a spring Derby campaign for GLG. Hopefully he won't scratch again due to the track. Even if he does, Necker Island is another Hard Spun in the Swale.
Necker Island's last race was a win in the slop. It was his best speed figure. PPs for Swale show that only Necker Island has raced on a sloppy track. Shivaree's first race was a good track. Everyone else only raced on fast track.

Unfortunate result in the Swale. Green Light Go 3rd, Necker Island 5th. Maybe GLG would benefit from Lasix.

Spin Rate won his debut at Fairgrounds in race 8 today. He's a 4yo. He was a $7K purchase as a 2yo. Must have had some issues if he just debuted today. He really got left at the gate! Had a lot of work to do. Looked good doing it.

Hidden Scroll, a late scratch from a Jan. 17 allowance at Gulfstream Park after becoming fractious in the starting gate, has resumed training for Bill Mott at Payson Park and could make his delayed return within the next few weeks....
"He’s all healed up from some scrapes and bruises he got from that incident and should be back on the work tab soon. He looks tremendously well, absolutely.”

Well, bless his pea-pickin' little heart! I hope he comes through for us. January was a very disappointing month! And then Green Light Go flopped in the Swale with Necker Island even farther back. I see that Silver Slate is on the KD Future Pool that just came out. I wonder if we will see him in the Risen Star?MTO wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 8:47 pm https://www.drf.com/news/hidden-scroll- ... te-scratch

Somehow I missed this 10-length win by Bell Ringer in race #3 at Sam Houston on January 31. This was his first win in 11 starts and he did it in a big way. I think his new trainer agrees with him. He's had a second and a win in two starts with the new trainer.

Nice video of Hard Not To Love with John Sheriffs talking about the challenges of training her with her just having one eye, which causes her to panic at times.

If you keep watching after this video, there are other videos in which he talks about some of the other horses in his stable, including Zellda.
