Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but this is very interesting.

Porter Has a Bit of Seller's Remorse With Omaha Beach
https://www.paulickreport.com/news/nl-a ... aha-beach/

TL;DR Rick Porter is regretting signing the deal with Spendthrift that OB will retire after 1 start at four. He claims he will never do that again. However, one of the driving forces behind him selling OB at 4 to Spendthrift is because he was told his cancer was a hopeless case, B. Wayne found out about it, and helped him get into the treatment program that put Porter into remission. He felt indebted.

Understandable, and a tough pill to swallow. Hopefully lightning will strike again and Porter will get another talented colt, now that he's realized he would rather race them. I recall that a few people were shocked when he signed the contract in the first place, since he tends to be a very sporting owner.

Mylute wrote: Fri Jan 10, 2020 12:21 pm I'm no expert but I would guess more than likely the second or third crop, because by that time the first crop is on the ground, and the breeders who were a bit gun shy of sending their mares to an unproven stud have seen the (albeit baby) produce and have seen how well they're received by buyers. If my calendar math is correct, the third crop born is after the first crop hit the track, so if the stud did well then breeders will be more interested in him.

And yes Lane's End seems to be more patient with their stallions (and I know that stallions are 90% of the time owned by a syndicate and not entirely the stud, but at least the usual syndicate owners with LE seem to be more patient). However I think The Factor's 1 year lease to Japan was testing the waters over there. I think that's pretty smart, since you don't want to be too hasty with a complete sale (WinStar and TCI) and the absence of the stallion for a year might increase sales. IIRC The Factor's sales numbers went up.
I've noticed a lot of full siblings in Union Rags 2017 crop; Paradise Woods, Dancing Rags, Tequilita, etc. I would assume that the fifth crop is the result of the original breeders deciding to revisit a stallion? Either way, I'm excited to see how the fifth crop sires do this year.

Umm... he had no regrets retiring Hard Spun at 4, but I guess Hard Spun had a full 3yo campaign.

What do we know about Karun (VEN)? Son of Arch won the same Venezuelan stakes race several years in a row and is apparently standing in Kentucky. He bred several mares in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, but his only progeny listed on PQ is 3 from 2018.

I don't think I ever heard of him. This site says he stands privately at Crestwood. http://www.pedigreegoddess.com/Stud%20Fees.htm

He isn't on the 2019 Freshman sire list so hasn't had any starters. PQ is only pulling 2 foals for me. They are both fake. The one out of Towa is completely fake, the "dam" just turned 4 and was racing last year through July.
The 2018 Targeting foal is an unnamed filly, though there is a 2019 colt from the same pairing.

The few that I've been able to find are all bred by Mar Racing Stable(KY). 2018/2019 foals out of Targeting, 2018/2019 foals out of Hy Maria Edu, 2019 Hy Sweet Candy, 2019 Stormy Fling, 2019 Tonina(foal died before being registered), 2019 Motivated.

It's strange that he reportedly bred mares in 16 and 17.

Remember when Storm Cat was cloned, for polo breeding?

Here's one of the clones, all grown up:

Not sure if this will take you to the Instagram post or not, but there's a video as well of him.

He repaid a favour by selling the breeding rights to his friend for what I can only assume is a 7 figure sum?

Slumber is no longer on Calumet's website. Are there any reports filed with the JC?

Also, still no word on where Can the Man and Tizdejavu went.

Ahsford still list American Pharoah's stud fee as private, but according to an article I read, his fee has gone up to $175,000 this year, from $110,000 last season.

Slumber's 2019 Report of Mares bred says Ready to Complete but there's no exports or deaths. Bloodhorse has his 2020 fee at Calumet at $5,000.

Tizdejavu was standing at Crestwood. But he didn't cover any mares in 2019, also doesn't have an export or death on file.

Can The Man was exported and not returned. He only stood 2015 at Spendthrift Australia so I assume he was sold.

Stallion Register has Can the Man listed as standing stud in 2019 at Spendthrift's Australia branch with a fee listed...however Spendthrift's Australia website doesn't list Can the Man under their stallions section...so I think right now it's anybody's guess where he is

He did but it wasn't many and the list said like 50% fertilty rate, but those reports can be off if a breeder is late registering a foal. I think he had 3 and 7 foals born those years.
You have to look at each year separately but you can see the info here:

Bodemeister's transit has been delayed due to (I think, Google translate can only do so much) the added bureaucratic red tape of him going from Argentina to the US and then to Turkey.
