From the above link, the photo of Galileo getting his gums massaged is priceless. :)

Such a nice article and lovely photos. Zenyatta looks great, and I'm very taken with Z13. Galileo's photo is pure joy.

The pic of Galileo made me LOL and then I was confused before I figured out about the mispost. I was a little bit sad b/c I'd thought OHAI WHAT THEY BOOKED HER TO GALILEO?!?!?! and then I realized not. *sniff*

*sigh*

That is a hilarious photo of the world's best sire. I've known colts who loved to have their tongues pulled, but gum massage is a new one for me.

From Zenyatta.com, some pics we've seen and some new ones. In picture #13 you get a pretty good look at Z13 and he is a looker!

Zenyatta is an absolute darling, and her Z13 is a stunner even at that awkward "tween" age. If he runs anywhere near his looks, he's going to be spectacular on the racetrack.

I love the shot of the girl with her back to Zen, who has her head over the fence, resting it on the girl's shoulder...and I swear it looks like Z's checking out her photos on the phone.
Z13 seems pretty friendly and well-behaved for a yearling colt. His mom may have imprinted her trust of humans on her colt, and that should make the process of learning to be a racehorse a bit easier for him.

I thought it looked like Zenyatta was photo bombing the girl's selfie! Likely it was meant to be a duo-selfie. :)

I noticed on those snowy pictures Zenyatta's ears were always alert. Very much in foal yet she looks so regal --a stand-out even running with the other mares in the field. Snowy Day!

Cute note from Ann Moss at the bottom of the page...she may be guilty of anthropomorphizing Zen a bit, but it's still clear that Big Z is wired a little differently than most horses. She is tuned in to the humans around her, and knows when they're paying attention to something, when most horses are oblivious. She may not have understood that was Coz on that little plastic thing Ann was holding, but she sure seemed to understand that it was somehow very interesting to Ann. Maybe she could hear Coz's familiar neigh through the phone, or see movement on the screen...we don't know.
I am reminded of stories I read about Secretariat, and how smart and observant he was. One thing that struck me was that he would stop, lift his head and watch planes go by overhead...eyes of an eagle, indeed.
Yep, some horses are blessed with more brains and sensitivity than others.
