There definitely aren't many horses registered as black in Europe. With the bay thing it depends on the country a bit, in UK/Ireland there sometimes register them as brown, but definitely not all. In France brown isn't an option, I think. They only seem to have bay(bai), chestnut(alezan), grey(gris) and black(noir). We have one mare that is very much brown, but in France is listed as black and another one that is brown/almost black is listed as bay.

The problem with bay/brown is also that the horses change colour a lot. We had a foal this year that was definitely a bay at first and I think is also registered as such, but he has gotten a lot darker and would probably be considered brown now rather than bay.
I think that more than the country, it depends of the breeders and the National Studs (which register all the horses, ponies, donkeys, draft horses etc). In France, the breeders lack information regarding the color genetics and they don't want to take too much time to register the proper color. As well the National Studs still have the old system of color registration with colors like "mouse" (souris, understand grullo), "coffee with milk" (café au lait, understand palomino...). It is then difficult for the breeders, when the National Studs agents come to register the foals, to make them understand that the foal is not "mixed bay" but greying out and has to be registered as grey.

That said, the black color exists in France : Rymska for example is registered as black

Here's the very flashy Toplucky (Lookin At Lucky x Topisima, by Powerscourt), a graded runner in Chile.

Cisco - forgive me for this, but your avatar is painful to look at. That poor horse has his neck forced so short (he can't use it as a balancing rod properly) and his mouth is gaping because he's pulling against the bit trying to get his neck out. It is awful.

I don't want to argue about this but please know that this horse is absolutely not in pain nor his neck forced "so short". Please look at the entire clip from which my avatar comes (with the sound on) before judging : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BraDLh4S-Gg

I just looked and didn't see much that didn't confirm my original observation. His neck is short and his mouth is gaping. At ~2:05 you can see him try to lengthen his neck and he is forced again to drop way behind the vertical. A horse with their nose tucked way in like this is because their neck is shortened. It is just basic equine biomechanics. What does having the sound on have to do with the horse's posture?

There are few things the equestrian community likes more than infighting about whether or not a horse is in pain due to X tack or discipline.

Meoquanee (Got It In Vegas x Affrettarsi, by Belong To Me) is a colored Australian mare. She won first in her class at the 2018 Royal Perth Show. Meoquanee has two blue eyes and her own Facebook page. Dual G1 winner Saleous is in her family.

Actually, I said I was in pain looking at it, LOL. The interpretation is a function of education, and that's OK, too. I understand why you might find it attractive. We are all here because we enjoy horses (at least).
Best in the New Year.

Not infighting about equine biomechanics on a racehorse forum/Horses with unique coloring/facial markings, LOL, just an observation. And as noted above, I said I was in pain, LOL (again).
Best to you in the New Year also.
