Note.....a re-use of the exact same name from back in the early 80's Enola Gay ran on the SoCal circuit and triggered one of my largest exacta wagers to date, and that was back in the days when $5 was the minimum wager

I just found this out today and it definitely gave me a good laugh! I wager some of you already know the story of Potoooooooo.

The origin of his name has several different versions. According to the most common, Abingdon intended to call the young colt "Potato" and instructed the stable boy to write the name on a feed bin. The stable boy spelled the name as "Potoooooooo" (Pot followed by 8 "o"s), which so amused Abingdon that he adopted the spelling.

Not necessarily a clever name as such but a funny story nonetheless! Pot8O’s was actually a very good racehorse and went on to sire some important stallions of the breed including Waxy.
