Happy Endings: Did you hear anything about where Spun to Run is headed next? Hoping they run him in the G1 Cigar Mile at Aqueduct on Dec 7.
One of the articles you posted mentioned the trainer considered giving him a freshening prior to deciding on the BC run, but he was kicking the stall down and didn't want a rest. Hoping Spun to Run gives the same signs to his connections again. Aqueduct isn't all too far from his home base at Parx. Then they can give him the freshening. Wishful thinking.

I have not heard anything, but have thought about the Cigar Mile, too. He might face Maximum Security there, if he goes. The race is a month away, so we may not hear anything for a while. Like with the BC entry, if they even have the Cigar on their radar, it would likely depend on how Spun To Run is acting as the date approaches.MTO wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 11:07 pm Happy Endings: Did you hear anything about where Spun to Run is headed next? Out For A Spin back in action in race #6 at Churchill Down this coming Saturday! Have been wondering about her. Last seen in Kentucky Oaks where she finished 11th. She really tanked in that race after winning the Ashland. Must have had something wrong to be off for 6 months since then. She also ran poorly at Churchill in her debut, however. That was also a sprint like this race.

Makes one wonder if she doesn't take to the Churchill track. If she tanks this race they might just decide that Churchill isn't the track for her. From PPs, this is a real possibility. Maybe she trains ok there and those bad Churchill races are coincidence that her worst 2 races in her lifetime were at Churchill.

I have heard that some horses can't run a step there. Skip Away was one, as I recall. However, Hard Spun flew around that track, and one would think she would inherit some of that from him. I guess we will see. Being off for six months after that race makes me think she came out of the race with an issue. If that's the case, that might account for her poor placing in the Oaks.MTO wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 9:25 pm Makes one wonder if she doesn't take to the Churchill track. Lucullan tied for 11th in the BC Mile last Saturday. Next to last. He is better than that and ran into trouble on the stretch run. Tried to go through an opening on the rail and got shut down. He was totally boxed in and when that option didn't work out he lost all chance for a better placing. I saw this acknowledged in something I read on one of the websites, so I am not just imagining it out of wishful thinking. So, draw a line through the BC Mile and just look for a better outcome in his next race.
This is the article where I saw the reference to Lucullan's troubled trip. It's a very brief reference, and I wish they had said more. The reference is toward the end of the article. And you can see it very clearly in the replay in th article. He's up near the front on the rail and when he got shut out he lost all chance. Could have had a great chance to win if he had gotten through. Only had to pass one horse, I think and had the jump on Got Stormy and Uni.

Free My Soul only beat one horse in the Kathryn Crosby Stakes at Del Mar today. First time I saw her in action and she is a HUGE girl! Dwarfed the other fillies. This was her second start off a long layoff, but she was in over her head.
EDIT: Just realized she was in against older and she was the only 3yo in the race.

Out For A Spin came back after 6 months off in an AOC at Churchill today. She finished 3rd. I was hoping for better, but not a bad result off the layoff. She ran eagerly just off the pace in the early going and made a move at the leader to within about a half length, but then flattened out.

Oh, my! Looks like Spun To Run will run into Maximum Security soon. They are both pointing to the Cigar Mile.

Afleet Destiny won race #8 at Parx today. Won rather easily by 2 or 3 lengths. She finally gets her second win in 17 starts. She has been put in races way over her head. She may have enough talent to win a stakes at some point, but glad to see her trainer finally put her where she could win. Maybe some confidence building is in order.

EDIT: Chart says she won by 5 lengths.
