Timeline entered in an optional claimer Saturday at Churchill. His bris number of 72 in his last race was 20 points lower than his previous low number of 92 in his comeback race last year. Why they started him so ill-prepared in a graded race I will never understand. I hope this guy can get back to his initial form that he had early in his 3yo season. He has never equaled that form, let alone moved forward. He's got the talent. Trainers have just let him down.

YYEEEEESSSSSS! This is also Hard Spun's first Breeder's Cup champion! So happy! I have to admit I have been more than a little annoyed at the journalistic commentary leading up to this race. It was as if Omaha Beach was the only horse in the race. And all the talk about the home track advantage for Santa Anita-based runners worried me a little, but it is my understanding that Parx is a slow track as well. Spun to Run's 110 Beyer was for a mile race run at 1:37 and change, which is a time that normally would not get that high of a speed number. So I figured he got that number because the Parx track was heavy and slow, and I was hoping that would mean Spun to Run would do okay on the SA track. Eight Rings showed yesterday that home track advantage was not necessarily the case and that gave me more hope. Spun to Run broke like a shot in his last race and I hoped he would do the same here. He sure did not disappoint. But he needs to get over that tendency to not change leads soon enough coming off the turn. He has done that before. In the Smarty Jones it allowed Grey Magician to get the lead. Once he got back on his correct lead he took off.
I believe Spun to Run is Hard Spun's 12th Grade 1 winner.
Wow! Now Lucullan....

Spun to Run earned a Beyer Speed Number of 109 yesterday. He certainly validated his 110 from his prior race.

Here is a DRF article with another replay of Spun To Run's win yesterday, with TVG staff discussion following. Matt Carothers had picked Spun To Run to win. So did Jerry Moss on NBC's telecast. Jerry said at one point that STR's 110 Beyer in the race at Parx was legit. And now with a 109 yesterday, it seems pretty validated.

Saving the best for last, I guess. Just found this replay of Spun To Run's win the Dirt Mile from NBC. It shows parts of the race from above and is the highest resolution replay I have found. Looked great even full page on my 27" computer screen.

TIMELINE finished last in his race. 🥺 What the heck has happened to him? Very disappointing. I hope he is all right.

Interesting back story on how SPUN TO RUN was purchased and how he ended up at the Breeder's Cup.
