Lanes' End is one of my favorite farms, so out of curiosity I looked at how many mares their roster got. Their new stallions all seem well-received, though I thought City of Light would be more popular than Accelerate and West Coast.

Lemon Drop Kid only got 36 mares, but isn't he getting up in his years? Are they limiting his books or is it mostly due to lack of interest?

Lanes' End Roster
Accelerate - 167
Candy Ride - 161
City of Light - 146
Connect - 112
Honor Code - 138
Lemon Drop Kid - 36
Liam's Map - 133
Mineshaft - 76
Mr. Speaker - 46
Noble Mission - 93
Quality Road - 154
The Factor - 80
Tonalist - 63
Twirling Candy - 154
Unified - 102
Union Rags - 155
West Coast - 168

They said City of Light was booked full before the Pegasus so perhaps they limited him to 140 or 145 and then let a few more in.

Lemon Drop Kid is 23, I would imagine its probably age related, he had covered 77 last year.

I think the more interesting stat for City of Light will be the live foal percentage. It should give some insight into how many mares he got in foal.

Was there an issue with that?

If people actually paid that price. I've found there is actually very little that is not negotiable in life.

Goldencents at 226? WTF. Is there even a need for this many horses in the world.

No, there’s not. Numbers like that make my stomach sink.

Yes there was an issue with him getting mares in foal. A mare I work with was bred to him and got in foal on the first trip. Lane’s End was shocked when they found out

Daddy Long Legs got 59 in his first major stent in the United States. I'm really interested to see how he fares.

Just saw where Lane's End increased City of Light's fee for 2020 from 35K to 40K. Did they figure out the fertility issues? Because it surely takes chutzpah to make breeders pay more for the added inconvenience.
