Frankel has another nice one: Quadrilateral won the Fillies’ Mile (G1) at Newmarket to go 3 for 3.

Looking forward to seeing if Pinatubo can also remain undefeated in the Dewhurst (G1) tomorrow.

Pinatubo won the Dewhurst (G1) and is now 6 for 6. It was a more workmanlike performance—the soft ground didn’t help.

I'm surprised by that. Is it that important to the connections that she retire on a 'winning note?' I don't remember many...if any...racemares who improved at six, or even held their five-year-old form.

If it was only that, they could just race her in an easy spot once more. Remember that her owner (Khalid Abdullah) also kept Frankel in training for another year, instead of retiring him at 3.

To draw a comparison, that would have been like American Pharoah staying on the track for 1 more season.

Winx, Beholder, Zenyatt... was going to say Ouija Board but I think she retired at 5. Makybe Diva arugably had her best season at 6.

I know that Australia, with mares like Black Caviar, Makybe Diva and Winx, has had some of the greatest six-year-old distaffers we will ever see. I hope that Enable joins their ranks next year. She seems to still have that drive to win, so I hope her body is as strong as her mind.

-Kew Gardens upsets Stradivarius in the Long Distance Cup in an absolute thriller (seriously the photo was insanely close!)
-Star Catcher provides redemption for Frankie Dettori in the F&M, sticking her head down gamely on the line
-King of Chance comes back to the track in style, taking the QEII and soundly beating 2000 Guineas winner Magna Grecia who got the better of him at Newmarket
-Magical is just that as she toughs out a win in the Champion Stakes

Yea I was bummed out about it too but he definitely battled on gamely and he got beat by a bigger equally game horse. John Gosden said post race that Stradivarius was acting as if he’d won, apparently he whinnied happily as he entered the paddock after the race because he got a cheer from the crowd. Love that horse so much!

I don't understand why other trainers aren't having a crack at this race. O'Brien probably only has 2-3 legitimate entries in this, all the way down to 6th pays. Disappointing

FYI, the Vertram Futurity (GI) has not yet been run as the card at Doncaster was abandoned due to terrible weather and a waterlogged track. They are considering running it on a synthetic surface (Newcastle I think it was).

And if we thought one trainer + one extra horse filling a GI was bad, how about the Grand Prix de Criterium (GI) which drew a field of 3 and had a gate scratch, making it a match race.

The Vertram Futurity has been rescheduled for Friday November 1st and will be ran at Newcastle Racecourse. This is the first time a Grade 1 race will be ran on the all weather under floodlights in Europe.

I'm sorry to see that Magical will miss the BC and has, in fact, been retired. It would have been a treat to see this outstanding filly run at Santa Anita.
