I am going to put out a pet peeve here. Hip 165 was bought by the consigning agent for 11K. A similar situation happened in July with a Chrome yearling that went for 20K. Obviously, these two yearlings had something seriously wrong on their scope or radiographs, and yet their owners rather callously put them through the ring to just get rid of them. Honestly, as a breeder, shouldn't it be your responsibility to just come up with a good non-racing home for the ones that have little chance to make it as a racehorse, especially colts and geldings, rather that just send them into a ring with a "good luck; hope you don't break down somewhere" ?

Also, although it shouldn't be any more, it is still amazing to me how much "fashion" places a part in buying dollar. Poor Kitten's Joy just keeps producing top runners over and over, and it is a wonder if one of his yearlings makes it past 200K it seems. It is also fun to see feeding frenzies on the first year sires which have been deemed " the next big one".

Again, I thought this one would go for more. I'm biased when it comes to Union Rags and his offspring, but a full to Paradise Woods? And, from what I could see on my live stream, he looked like a handsome individual. *sighs*

Again, if you haven't seen the vet reports, you don't know what issue(s) he might have. Even the littlest things, that won't affect racing ability, will turn off many buyers.

It really wouldn't surprise me if Hill n' Dale made a deal to send him across the pond for stallion duties. He would likely receive a higher caliber book of mares (or at least more A+ matches), and I'm positive his foals would bring more at auctions. Unless he starts siring some dirt winners, I doubt anything will change for him.

I'm aware of this. Call it wishful thinking but, as someone who isn't privy to vet reports, I would have loved to see him bring more.

I certainly haven't seen vet reports, either. But when I see a horse with a great page sell for what seems like a low price, I just chalk it up to unseen issues. It's disappointing, but it doesn't affect me directly, so it's not really my place to worry.

Not worrying, just a bit disappointed :) As a big Union Rags fan I’m thrilled when his progeny bring big numbers, and I hoped the colt would bring a little more.

He went to top-flight connections, though, which is probably more significant than his price.

I'm practically shouting  Godolphin purchased the $1 mil filly; Shadwell purchased the $750K colt.

Into Mischief just had a nice colt sell for $600K -- Hip 210, out of Ahh Chocolate.

Kitten's Joy just had a nice one sell for $425K. Hip 218, I believe?

UPDATE: Nvm, he was an RNA.

Assuming he isn't an RNA, Hip 258, by War Front out of KY Oaks winner Believe You Can, just sold for $2.9million. He's the sales-topper thus far.
