My wondering out loud about Spinoff worked. They decided to do something. He has just been entered in an AOC at 1 1/8 miles on Friday, August 9 in race #5 at Saratoga. Blinkers added.

Same for A Thread of Blue. He's going in the Saratoga Derby Invitational this afternoon. It's race #9. Second race in the Turf Triple that has just been inaugurated this year. Same distance as the Preakness. Hoping the 2 month freshening has helped. He had a bullet work last week.

A Thread of Blue wins race #9, the inaugural Saratoga Derby Invitational! Led the whole way. Brilliant ride by Luis Saez! The freshening did help! Some good horses in that field and they could not catch him! That was grade 1 level competition in that race. Too bad he won't get credit for that. His record is now 10-5-2-1. Time was 1:52.02, two fifths off the course record.

I didn't know this. A Thread of Blue spiked a fever in mid June. Accounts for the longer break between races. Apparently they would have run him in the Belmont Derby otherwise.

Green Light Go is entered in the Saratoga Special this coming Saturday. He won on debut last month. His lastest work was a bullet half mile in 46 and 1/5th. Here is that maiden win: https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing ... -on-7-4-19

Bloodhorse has reported that A Thread of Blue is pointing to the 1 1/2 mile Jockey Club Derby Invitational Stakes on September 7. McLaughlin says they aren't sure he will get the distance, but they are going to try as long as the course is firm. He didn't handle the soft ground in the Penn Mile in June.

Spinoff won his allowance race (race #5) today at Saratoga by about 5 lengths. Lost his hind footing coming out of the gate, but recovered quickly. Good to see him back in the winner's circle. Not clear to me if the blinkers made a difference, but it didn't seem to hurt him. Curious to see where they put him next.

You can see his stumble coming out of the gate in the head on view here. Make sure you have August 9th races selected: https://www.nyra.com/saratoga/racing/results

Green Light Go just won race #8, the Saratoga Special by 3 or 4 lengths. Very impressive. He's now 2 for 2. Could be a "special" one! I think he is Hard Spun's 74th stakes winner. Unusual for Hard Spun to have a stakes winner at 2. Most of his blossom later. Hard Not To Like won the Cup and Saucer against males at 2, and Diadura won the Arlington Lassie stakes in 2016. I am pretty certain no other graded stakes winner at 2. Very close to the stakes record, just 11/100th of a second shy, so a very good time.

I saw that race on TV. Green Light Go looks like a real good one. Maybe we will see him in the Kentucky Derby next year.

Gorgeous colt. He looked like a man among boys. Running w/o Lasix, too.

Today's 1st race at Saratoga was a hurdle race, which SNAP DECISION won by 38 1/2 lengths. Chart said the rest of the field was not in the same zipcode! Lol! Good for him. May have found his calling!

Hoping Todd Pletcher decides to send Spinoff to the Travers now that Maximum Security and Game Winner won't run there.

Spinoff ran lights out at Saratoga a few days ago. Travers would be 2 weeks between races for Spinoff.

https://www.timesunion.com/sports/artic ... 294080.php

Earlier this week, trainer Todd Pletcher stood outside his office at his barn on the Oklahoma Training Track and said that if Spinoff ran off the screen in Friday's fifth race at Saratoga, he might wheel him back in the Travers Stakes here on Aug. 24.

Spinoff won the 1 1/8-mile race by a comfortable 5 3/4 lengths. So ...

"Probably not," Pletcher said of the Travers as he walked to the paddock for the sixth race. "The logical move would be to give him some time and then run in the Pennsylvania Derby (at Parx Racing on Sept. 21). We'll see how he comes out of this and we won't make any decision for a week or so."

Might happen.....and I had forgotten that Spinoff beat older in that allowance race the other week, including a stakes winner.
