Empire of War is a half brother to dual grade 1 winner Separationofpowers.

Also running is Eons, a full brother to grade 3 winner and Ontario-based sire Giant Gizmo and Tableaux, who was a two-time group 2 winner in France.
Eons won; Empire of War off the board.

Marconi and Wooderson both off the board in the Suburban.

Yes.

Based on her JBIS page she was bred to Deep Impact and Orfevre, but didn't carry to term. Gran Alegria is her first to survive and race.
Tapitsfly died last March.

Blutgang, a grey colt ( by Deep Impact, Sunday Racing Co.) below, is her second to last (or perhaps, last?) progeny.

Blutgang, 2yo gr. colt, the last progeny of Tapitsfly, won his debut, 1800m turf, at Tokyo.

As was said to be quite different from his quick sister, Gran Alegria, he rather seems suited to middle distance races.

#11, Lemaire in the Suday Racing silks

Depressing to write this, but Sunday Racing Co. announced that Bultgang was put down this morning; he had been unable to stand up in his stall since 7th July, possibly suffering from Wobbler syndromes (no clear diagnosis available at the moment). The son followed his mother.

I don't think this has been posted here already...

Golden Julia (Dreaming of Julia '17) died on the 30th May. She was found distressed in her stall at Saratoga, sent to a vet clinic but died there of acute blood loss (per NYS reports) :( :(

Accuse blood loss? WTH? Someone didn’t pay attention. Poor girl.

It didn’t specify the cause but I wonder if she might have fractured her pelvis in her stall and that caused the blood loss. It’s certainly not unheard of for horses with a (in some cases undiagnosed) fractured pelvis to collapse from internal bleeding.

Either way, it sounds like it was internal bleeding so that would explain why no one realised until it too late to save her :(

It's also important to remember that horses are prey animals, and even though they're domesticated they're still "programmed" to not show weakness or injury for as long as possible (because predators will see and attack them).

It is very possible the fracturing couldn't be seen on the outside, the filly didn't make a fuss, and then when it was finally discovered it was too late.

Love this name. My favorite pony growing up was named Brando (he was a short and stocky liver chestnut POA).
