Rocketry finished 2nd in the Flat Out Stakes. It was only 1 3/8 miles. Seems anything under 1 1/2 miles is too short for him, but the pickings are slim at that distance and longer. I wonder if they will run him in the Brooklyn Invitational on June 8.

Spinoff had another good workout yesterday, June 1. 5 furlongs in 1:02:16. Not as fast as last week, which I think is actually good because this is going to be a 1 1/2 mile race. Notably, another really strong gallop out.

Overwhelming won an allowance race over timber at Fair Hill on May 24.
quote from an article in the NSA's Monday Report, page 3: " Woodslane Farm’s Overwhelming won a $10,000 allowance timber race limited to amateur apprentice jockeys.... Woodslane’s Overwhelming is... a nine-year-old by a prominent flat sire, Hard Spun, and he also has held his own in Grade 1 hurdle racing. Although he never won at graded level—he won the 2018 Tryon Block House allowance hurdle—he was Grade 1-placed when third in last summer’s A. P. Smithwick Memorial at Saratoga Race Course. Overwhelming finished fifth in the Virginia Gold Cup’s Steeplethon on May 4 but emerged a tighter horse for the Fair Hill race. Brett Owings bided his time with Overwhelming while Riverdee Stable’s Biedermeier set the pace with Kiplin Hall’s Lambeau Field. Overwhelming launched his attack in the stretch, but Biedermeier and jockey Paul O’Neill battled tenaciously before giving way in the final furlong. Overwhelming drew clear in the final strides and won by 1¼ lengths over Biedermeier."

I will post the video replay of the race when it is available. Usually takes a week or so for it to go up.

Spinoff drew pp 6 for the Belmont Stakes on Saturday.
Rocketry drew pp 6 for the Brooklyn Invitational, also on Saturday. I was hoping he would show up here. His first two races this season were too short for him.

Spinoff finished 6th in the Belmont, which is better than anyone was giving him credit for. Beaten by no more than 3 lengths. He is a talented colt. Hope they can find some good spots for him going forward. I am sure he has some grades stakes wins in him.
Rocketry finished a fast closing 2nd in the Brooklyn. He was definitely moving the best of anyone, including the winner, at the end. The longer for him the better. Not many options, though, unfortunately. Joel gave him a smart ride, having him up closer than usual. No doubt he could tell they were walking up front. 6 Furlongs in 1:16? Give me a break! If he had been another length closer he could have won, but hindsight is 20-20. I love watching him run...

Lucky Spinner won race #1 at Moe Racecourse in Victoria, Australia on June 3. He is the #5 horse and trails the field early. Makes a good middle move to reach contention and then circles the rest of the field and comes down the center of the track.
