Take Charge Lady

Hi all - With Take Charge Lady's relations dominating the Rebel(s) today, I thought I'd check up on her recent produce. Equineline shows that her most recent foal was delivered in May 2017. It says she was bred to American Pharoah for 2018, but there's no "status report" there (foaled, dead foal, aborted, etc), and I can't seem to find anything more recent on her. Does anyone know her status, and possibly who she was set to be bred to this year? Thanks!

Found out she wasnt bred for a 2019 foal, but she passed on November of 2018.
Was so sad when I found out when i went to a farm and by chance asked if they happened to have her.

Yes, she passed (i assume euthanized).. she had a back injury, or problem with her back. The guy said due to old age (would have been 20 this yr) Couldnt get up or go down easily....
Im surprised it wasnt announced at all esp shes a famous mare... not like Zenyatta, but in her right. Isnt she owned privately like Charming was?

This article is from this March, and says nothing about her dying. In fact, it speaks about her in the present tense.

Are you sure she's gone? With all the attention she's had because of Omaha Beach and Long Range Toddy, it's hard to imagine that her passing would have been ignored.

Well.. this farm is a big named one. Does anyone have access to Jockey Club to see if death report was filed?
I would be shocked if he lied, he is one of the main people working at the farm. He had a sad looking face when I asked about her.
Edit. I shot him an email to double confirm to be sure i read him right (we were texting back and fro during the visit bc i am deaf for easier communications)

I suspect that your info is correct, unfortunately.
It's just hard to understand why the big racing sites either didn't know, or didn't bother to write about it.

No death report filed on the Jockey Club registration site, but they aren't mandatory.

Well, it's Coolmore, right? Which might also explain the lack of announcement.FlyToTheStars wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2019 7:09 pm Yes, she passed (i assume euthanized).. she had a back injury, or problem with her back. i know it's not a requirement we be made aware, but it still feels lousy
[[edit; maybe me being a nerd on reddit and my goofy bookmarks can make you laugh and feel less sad]]

it just plain sucks plain and simple..I cant believe that a mare who's made such a monumental contribution to the breed could just die and NOT a single word from the farm...I get that they are not required to inform us but it doesn't mean it sucks any less

I'm angry...because IMHO it's disrespecting a very good racehorse and a great broodmare to NOT make a big deal out of her death. She deserved a glowing obituary on all the racing sites and forums, maybe even a race replay video or two on TVG.

I also think it makes getting Take Charge Indy back from Korea all the more important.

Yes! And soon. They may not be so happy to put him on a flight home if he's all banged up and the worse for wear.sweettalk wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2019 2:05 amesp with the current news coming out abt their treatment. i assume he has a buyback clause, but still.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2019 2:01 am I'm angry...because IMHO it's disrespecting a very good racehorse and a great broodmare to NOT make a big deal out of her death. Not laughing at your bookmarks (but now I have to go check out FML LOL...) - but someone else who uses Torani sugar free syrups! I looooooooove them in my iced coffees. No more Starbucks for me, woot! And so much less expensive. \o/
To keep it relevant to the thread, I'm glad at least that she was buried at the farm and has a nice gravestone. She really should have been remembered, though.
