I wish I hadn't been so right. That poor little girl...and such a sweet, pretty face.

Who in their right mind would throw a saddle over that skeletal backbone and ride the emaciated animal into the ring?!? Nevermind...that was a rhetorical question, since her owner was clearly a mo+#@&#$&@r.

Until I saw the photos, I assumed they'd ridden her through the ring hoping to bring a higher bid. Generally, ridden horses do better than horses run through. But those photos indicate to me that someone had actually been riding her in that condition. Blew my mind.

Caroline just posted that Cymple Rhythm has finally arrived at Kathy's farm, where she will spend her quarantine and hopefully gain some strength. She'll get a vet exam tomorrow. Tonight she is very tired, but she ate and drank and her temp is normal. She does have swelling and heat in one of her front legs that Caroline finds worrying. We will know more in the next few days.

God. Poor Cymple Rhythm looks worse in daylight today than she did in the pen. Pretty obvious that, other than throwing a saddle on her, not much else has been done with her for quite some time.

See photos taken in daylight. I know some of you can't see FB pages, even public ones. Will bring a few over.

Seing this picture makes me sad and mad. I happen to own a tb that was worst than this poor mare. No excuses for this.

Flanders, I'm guessing it was at Mike's Auction in CA on September 14th. It was when Ziggypop alerted to Tribal Legend being at risk that they also mentioned the QH with his awards, registration papers and new shoes. Maybe a QH rescue helped?

Desperately trying to save this stud tonight!!! There are too many studs at the auction and they are trying to sell him outside the auction gates. He is at Mike's Auction, in CA

Frankly, better news than expected after Cymple Rhythm's vet exam. Just posted by Caroline on FB:

"Cymple Rhythm's veterinary examination at Apple Valley Equine Hospital just ended. She has a BCS of 2, the swelling and heat observed in her foreleg is due to a superficial scrape, she is NOT in foal (hurrah), she has a gut full of 20-30 pounds of sand, horrendous teeth, AND she has almost perfect radio-graphs for both front fetlocks which the vet described as "about as good as you could hope for for a horse that has been treated as poorly as she has". All that is needed, really, is food ... and psyllium Yay!"

Wow, that's fantastic! As beat up as she looked on the outside, I was prepared for much worse on the inside. Poor baby...but she really does have a great chance for a full recovery and and could be adoptable. I assume colic will be a big risk for awhile, but this is just wonderful news!

Well, the sand load of course increases the risk of colic. But she'll get a 30-day course of psyllium and be monitored closely. Caroline was really scared she was pregnant. And the guy who brought her to the auction told someone that she'd had impaction colic a couple of weeks ago due to eating acorns. So there was that concern too.

Lucky girl, because she looks like it might have been much worse.

The picture of this poor boy, Centerfold Kid, finally hit the owner's computer. He had no idea his horse was at this sale. He had made a hand-shake gentleman's agreement, to loan this horse to someone for his daughter to show, (I believe) as the owner's son was no longer going to show halter horses. From there, who knows.

The owner had no idea his horse ended up at a slaughter auction, with a "direct to slaughter" order. Evidently people did try to save him. The owner is devastated, and though it is thought the horse went to slaughter, there is a national social media search going on, just in case he is still alive.

One more reason why we must pass the SAFE ACT, stopping the transport to slaughter and horse slaughter.

Anyone who frequents auctions, please keep your eyes open for him, the family would love him home.

PS. He is a halter horse only, not saddle broke, and is believed to be about 7 years old.

Is the person who did this going to be charged? Isn't this some type of crime? I hope that at a minimum the person responsible will be outed and never live it down..
