MM, thanks for confirming that. I was expecting that kind of an update. I'll always remember her.

Aw...that's such a hopeful look on Frijoles' face. He must be thinking "maybe THIS time I get the girl?" :P ;)

I wonder what breed or cross he is. He doesn't seem to be a thoroughbred.

Last year Frijoles was running in claiming races at Charles Town, he must be counting his lucky stars right now. Teaser stallions are sometimes used to sire nurse mare foals so he may get some action yet.

Is he a thoroughbred? Because the Frijoles that was running at Charles Town is registered as chestnut on Equibase.

I was just assuming since Country Life is in Maryland it would make sense for them to pick up a CT horse, and IIRC they had lost their old teaser stallion last year, but I could totally be wrong.

Don’t now yet who imported her.

I hesitate to ask because I don't expect good news but can anyone provide a status on Blind Luck's dam, Lucky One? She sold to Shadai Farm in 2010. She was the sweetest mare I've ever been around. Her last foal report was in 2014 :(
According to the Japanese Stud Book, she died February 4, 2014. Since that is also the listed foaling date of her last offspring, foaling complications seems like an obvious cause of death.
Yes.
I had reported her death in In Memoriam 2014 thread.

Oh wow, I wonder if this means Dr. Dedomenico gave up on her as a broodmare? I know he was getting frustrated that she hadn't produced anything close to her talent level. He was the breeder of her 2018 Curlin colt, but I don't see any evidence she foaled her 2019 Secret Circle. Sure hope she'll be successful there, whether for him or someone else.

Thanks for posting. Can't wait to hear where she's standing and her breeding plans.
You are welcome! :D
Blind Luck(USA) is the 6th Kentucky Oaks winner who was sent to Japan.

It was in 1990 when both Goodbye Halo(USA) and Tiffany Lass(USA) were imported to Japan.

Goodbye Halo produced G1 winner King Halo(JPN)(by Dancing Brave) at Kyowa Bokujo in Japan.
And King Halo did very well at stud, too.

Tiffany Lass(USA) couldn't produce any graded winner.
But her granddaughter Yamanin Sucre(JPN)(by Tokai Teio) became the JRA champion 2yo filly.

Yes I hope Blind Luck will do well here like Goodbye Halo to send her offspring to the highest level.
I guess that she is at either Teruya Yoshida's Shadai Farm or Katsumi Yoshida's Norhtern Farm.
But I'm still waiting for the confirmation.
Maybe we will know the answer through their facebooks?

-- Past Kentucky Oaks winners sent to Japan

1986 winner : Tiffany Lass (Nishikioka Bokujo)
1988 winner : Goodbye Halo (Kyowa Bokujo)
2008 winner : Proud Spell (Northern Farm)
2010 winner : Blind Luck
2013 winner : Princess of Sylmar (Shadai Farm)
2016 winner : Lovely Maria (Shadai Farm)

Is she pensioned? Even so, she has left quite a legacy.

I think so.
She was barren to King Kamehameha for 2017/2018
And I know she was not covered last year.

Maximum Security's dam, Lil Indy, was sold to South Korea for $11K at Keeneland November. She was carrying a full sibling.

Arrived in Korea 22 December, no produce record yet

I've looked through the broodmares a few times but they have poor race records and no record of previous foals so if there is a mare you want to know about let me know
Ask me any questions you have about New Zealand and Australia racing

I see the Storm Cat is strong in her.
She's continuing the legacy.

Broodmares have produce records, just only what they have produced after arriving in South Korea. The thing I've noticed is they don't tend to register foals until December of the year they are born, at the earliest. So this foal may be born but won't show up for 8-9 months.
