Kinda similar to the death of Sebring in Australia just a few weeks ago at the age of 13. Sometimes these things happen, but it’s still heartbreaking and sad.

Ah, I didn’t realize that’s what it was. The show jumper Hickstead died from that, too, at age 15 I think it was. One minute he was walking to the exit from the ring after completing a round, next minute he was down and in death throes.

I just remembered that Pope said her first hunch/thought was to send Songbird to Pioneerof the Nile before they decided on Arrogate. Now I am extra sad that she didn't go with him the first time

I thought he had collapsed right after his last jump. I remember Eric Lamaze describing how even in that moment the horse looked back at him as if to make sure he was ok, then no more. From what the vets said his aorta must've ruptured while he was jumping - shows what kind of horse he was that he completed the course in spite of literally bleeding out internally.

Although I should mention that aortic aneurysms can have genetic predispositions. I've got an elevated risk for abdominal aortic aneurysms according to DNA profiling and I later found out my Great grandfather had had one. He didn't die from it because miraculously it was found before it ruptured during some other kind of procedure/exam.

Unfortunately sporthorse breeders in the U.S. aren't breeding to Thoroughbreds.

It's not that simple. If you have a registered Hanoverian, for instance, and you want to register the foal, the stallion has to be approved by their registry. Stallions can earn that via a performance test/evaluation, or may earn it in the show ring (the thoroughbred stallion, Coconut Grove, for instance). There are also some rules around at least 50% Hanoverian blood, so if you have an approved Han/XX cross mare, you are limited in your options. Mares are also inspected/graded and can also go through a performance test for further evaluation/grading.

The Boodhorse article states that preliminary autopsy result suggests it was a heart attack
that caused his death

Finale... Oakton Farm Stallions is not e tension of any sort of Richard Haisfield, Stonewall or Prestige . The stallions are under lease from several owners. Haisfield is a stain on the industry but the stallions nor Oakton should be punished or gossiped about ..you can’t deny the bloodlines .. As for Finale . Yes abviously I “managed “ to pay for as I recieved his JC papers ! Really people have nothing better to do than gossip or speculate and try to tarnish an up and coming business .. I work my ass off 16 -18 hours a day to make this a success to read this and Ray Paulicks garbage. My reputation and references are stellar . Pick up the phone and just ask if you want to know what’s going on ! 352 615 8400
