Spinoff won race #2 at Tampa Bay today by almost 12 lengths. First off a layoff of over 6 months.. His record is now 3-2-0-1. He may be another good one for Hard Spun. I remember when he won his maiden. Glad to see him come back with a good win.

Spinoff's win was 1.18 seconds off the track record, and he was green in the stretch.

Here's a nice article about Spinoff's race today at Tampa

https://www.paulickreport.com/news/trip ... -at-tampa/

Pletcher was unsure what's next for Spinoff, a homebred racing for owners Wertheimer and Frere. He did not rule out returning for the Grade II, $400,000 Lambholm South Tampa Bay Derby on March 9, although that “probably would be bringing him back a little quicker than what's ideal.

“Whatever we do next, it probably will be in a graded stakes somewhere,” Pletcher added.

I wondered why the announcer repeated the time of the race several times. Thank you for the article. Wouldn't it be cool to have Spinoff and Hidden Scroll both make it to the KD. Would love to see Hard Spun get a male classic winner.

Nightspun won race #7 at Bathurst in New South Wales, Australia on Feb. 26. Her record is 72-7-10-9. yikes! She is the #7 horse and breaks from gate #11. Dark silk w/ red cap. Runs second last for much of the race.

Hidden Scroll drew post #7 in the Fountain of Youth. Guess we'll see what he is made of. Some good horses in that race. Fingers crossed! I keep thinking of Timeline from two years ago. He went 4 for 4, winning two G3 stakes in the slop that spring, Peter Pan and Pegasus, and has literally done nothing since once he started running against the big guys. Never again captured that form or ran the same kind of numbers. Really don't want to see that happen with HS.

A Thread of Blue scored in the G3 Palm Beach Stakes at Gulfstream today. First time he won without leading the whole way, so he showed a new dimension today. Commentators on TVG didn't think he had a chance to win today because of the other speed in the race. His record is now 7-4-1-1. Next race possibly the American Turf Stakes (G2) for 3yo at CD on Derby day.

Hit It Once More ran well to finish second in the 1 5/16 mile Bernardini Stakes at Aqueduct today. Led much of the way, but could not quite hang on long enough. First time running that long of a race, but that was his best finish since last summer. His record is now 36-7-3-5.

Hidden Scroll unfortunately went way too fast, too early, and wound up 4th, but beaten only 3 lengths. :( At least now we know he can also go fast on a dry track.
