I knew that he was the sire of Mairzy Doates(USA), the winner of the inaugural runnning of the Japan Cup in 1981.
She is one of my all-time favorites.
But this is the first time I come acorss a pick of her sire Nodouble.

Can someone tell me a bit more about Nodouble?
I remember years ago seeing his stallion ads when he was standing at Three Chimneys Farm. If I recall he was a pretty chestnut. I don’t remember s whole lot other than the farm I worked on at the time had some mares by him in their broodmare band.

I would say one of his best contributions to the breed was siring the wonderful broodmare No Class.

Nodouble was the type of stallion who did not "hit" immediately. He benefited by being moved to Florida where he clicked with the pool of mares available there. In today's highly commercialized breeding environment, a stallion like Nodouble would have been dismissed quickly by the market. But in his day, patience was still a virtue in the breeding industry, so ten years after his first season at stud, Nodouble became the Leading Sire in North America. His rise to the top caused his owners to move him back to Kentucky in his later years. He stood at Three Chimneys during that later period and died there at the age of 25. He is buried at Three Chimneys.

If you haven't seen it before, you might enjoy this "Look Back" article from Bloodhorse about Nodouble's Arkansas Derby win. The piece includes some information about his breeding. https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing ... qus_thread

Hard to believe he's 25 years old...cute video.

Kentucky Derby, Preakness Winner Silver Charm Turning 25
Hall of Fame thoroughbred Silver Charm is celebrating his silver anniversary birthday, and Old Friends retirement facility is hosting a party for him.

The farm says fans can submit an original greeting card on paper or in digital format for a card contest to wish Silver Charm a happy 25th birthday. The deadline is Thursday. The best design will receive a color photo of Silver Charm.

The birthday party will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the Georgetown farm. The party is free and open to the public. Guests will receive gift bags, while supplies last; giveaways; and lunch from several local restaurants.

Happy (actual) 25th birthday to Hall of Famer Silver Charm. Wendy Wooley of EquiSport Photos took this shot today of the 1997 Kentucky Derby and Preakness and 1998 Dubai World Cup winner, shown with Michael Blowen at @Oldfriendsfarm in Georgetown KY.

The Australasian breeding industry is mourning the loss of Group 1 winner and producer Sebring. The 13-year-old died suddenly at @widdenstud, where he retired after a glittering career on the track under the guidance of @StarTbreds and @GaiWaterhouse1.

I saw Silver Charm at Old Friends' day-after-the-Derby party--he was in the paddock next to the picnic area and loving all the attention. I didn't realize he was 24 at the time!
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

How sad that this beautiful and talented stallion is gone. Wasn’t he one of Black Caviar’s mates?

Wishing the happiest of retirements to Breeders' Cup Mile winner and champion World Approval! Mr. Happy himself will take up residence at Live Oak Stud in an adjoining paddock to his dam and graded stakes-winning siblings Revved Up and Za Approval.

While it's possible that his connections wish World Approval were still a stallion because he was so good, not sure this is "Stallion News." ;) :P

LOL. Sorry, I was posting quickly before I left for an appointment. I do wish the threads had their titles on all the pages. I get to reading through a thread and then forget which one I'm on.
