I agree. I added the article to that post because it leaves the door open a bit.

I believe in the horse, but unfortunately I don't have 100 mares to breed to him. He's bred for turf, but he's made like a classic dirt horse."

First Foals Arrive for Calumet Farm's First Year Stallions

Grade 1 winner Keen Ice had a filly out of the Pioneerof the Nile mare Hidden Nile at Calumet Farm. The filly hails from the family of G2 winner Top Secret and G1-placed Kentucky Bear.

Bal a Bali, a U.S. G1 winner and Brazilian Triple Crown winner, had his first colt, out of the unraced A.P. Indy mare Koko Pop. The colt's second dam is the G1 winner Got Koko, with a page that also features G3 winner J.T.'s Pet.

Highfield Investment Group delivered the first foal by War Correspondent, out of the stakes-placed Pulpit mare B R's Girl. The mare is also the dam of stakes-placed Act, by War Front, and the family includes G1-placed Colorful Charades.

Rounding out the group, Mr. Z's first foal arrived earlier this week, out of the unraced Point Given mare Point of Fact. Champions Storm Bird and Northernette are in the extended family, as well as G1 winner Storm Trooper.

War Front, Tapit, Medaglia d'Oro still commanding top stud fees

On Monday, Claiborne Farm opens the doors to its historic breeding shed, where six Triple Crown winners, among dozens of other classic winners, have been conceived. War Front will walk into that breeding shed as the most expensive stallion in North America for this breeding season.

War Front enters 2019 with an unchanged stud fee of $250,000, which leaves him atop the market as two commercial rivals had their fees dropped for the season. Tapit, who stood for $300,000 at Gainesway from 2015-18, will stand for $225,000. Darley resident Medaglia d’Oro’s fee dropped from $250,000 in 2018 to $200,000. Those three will lead the 10 stallions standing for six figures in North America in 2019, up from eight at that threshold five seasons ago, none for more than $150,000.

Claiborne historically has been relatively selective with its stallions’ books, keeping them to modest sizes by today’s standards and not shuttling for the Southern Hemisphere season. War Front covered 82 mares in 2018, according to The Jockey Club’s Report of Mares Bred. The average book size for a Claiborne stallion was 81 mares, and only five of the farm’s 12 stallions covered triple-digit books.

She is one of my all-time favorites.
