INSPECTOR LYNLEY NOMINATED FOR G3 TAMPA BAY STAKES

Phipps Stable & Stuart S. Janney III's six-year-old homebred multiple graded stakes winning horse Inspector Lynley is nominated for the grade III $175,000 Tampa Bay Stakes on Saturday, February 9 at Tampa Bay Downs going one mile and a sixteenth on turf for four-year-olds and up.

Inspector Lynley won the Tampa Bay Stakes in 2017 as a four-year-old with jockey John Velazquez riding. A race replay is available from TVG at http://bit.ly/tam20170211r9.

COVER MODEL ENTERED FOR SUNDAY
Phipps Stable's homebred four-year-old filly Cover Model (War Front—Daydreaming, by A.P. Indy) is entered to make her fourth career start on Sunday in Gulfstream Park race 7, going one mile on turf with jockey John Velazquez riding. She's finished on the board in all three of her first three starts. Cover Model is a half sister to Phipps homebred grade I stakes winner IMAGINING (standing at Anchor & Hope Farm).

WINNER! PHIPPS STABLE'S COVER MODEL WINS BY 4 LENGTHS TO BREAK HER MAIDEN
In her fourth career start for trainer Shug McGaughey, Phipps Stable's homebred four-year-old filly COVER MODEL (War Front—Daydreaming, by A.P. Indy) broke her maiden today at Gulfstream Park under a masterful ride from John Velazquez. She left gate position 11 well to go to the front of the pack where she set the pace and never looked back. She pulled away from the field in the final furlong to win handily by nearly four lengths.

ASTICOU TRAIL LOOKS TO GET BACK INTO THE WINNERS CIRCLE TODAY
(#6, Gulfstream R9, $51k AOC, 1 mi. dirt, 4:41 pm ET)

Phipps Stable & Stuart Janney's five-year-old mare ASTICOU TRAIL is ending a layoff since her Nov. 23 Aqueduct 3rd-place finish. She broke her maiden two starts ago, winning by more than four lengths on Oct. 21 at Belmont.

Two other racers from the Phipps barn have ended similar layoffs this week at Gulfstream, with COVER MODEL winning on Sunday and SARGEANT DRIVE looking rusty, finishing fifth yesterday. It will be interesting to see how Asticou Trail does today, but one can expect 2017 Eclipse Award-winning jockey Jose Luis Ortiz will get him a good trip.

On paper, Asticou Tail looks primed to put in a good run today, having put in a bullet workout on Saturday. She breezed 4 furlongs on dirt at Payson Park in 49.2 sec (1/22).

PHIPPS STAKES WINNER!
Inspector Lynley won the Tampa Bay Stakes today for a second time in three years. He has won stakes races at ages 3, 4, 5, and now 6 yrs old.
