I second the pretty comment!

She has quite the female family, tracing back to Gallorette. Exciting to see who she will go to.
Mastery/Candy Ride would result in Fappiano three times in the foal’s pedigree.

Yeah I know. They tend to support their farm stallions though so I thought maybe the Mastery/Candy Ride angle because of Gun Runner. Her dam went to First Samurai last year so they could use him or maybe Blame or Flatter.

Cappuccino Bay, dam of @DarleyStallions Medaglia d’Oro, died today at the home of her breeders Al and Joyce Bell in Montana. She was 30. “Medaglia d’Oro and Cappucino Bay have both had a tremendous influence on the Thoroughbred world.”- Al Bell

They really need to add an edit feature to Twitter. The second spelling is correct.

Went looking for some horses in my VS with no recent activity. Found that now 4 year old Night Gem (2015 F Tapit - Evening Jewel, by Northern Afleet) is in foal to Animal Kingdom for a 2019 foal. She sold for $400k as a yearling to White Swan Stables and is unraced.

Goodbye, Australian champion BINT MARSCAY, whose death was announced by @Oldfriendsfarm .

She was no ordinary mare. She absolutely dazzled on-track, including this record score in the Golden Slipper:

I thought this was in interesting thread on older mares, considering the discussion here in early January.

Liz Crow @LCrow11
What do City Of Light, Abel Tasman, Accelerate, Army Mule, McKinzie, Fourstar Crook & Stormy Liberal have in common? Other than brilliance all of their mares were 15+YO in ‘18 and double digits when they produced these champs. 28 of 72 G1W in 18 were out of mares at least 15yo 🤯

So I just remembered I saw a twitter post a few weeks ago where someone heard that Songbird was actually pregnant with twins, and of course they aborted one.

Any credible sources for this? It's interesting.

I saw an interview with Mandy Pope on TVG where she mentions that Songbird was pregnant with twins.

Pretty sure I read somewhere that there is a lot of interest in Unusual Heat offspring for import by Japanese breeders... mostly daughters but maybe a couple of colts too? I can't remember the specifics.

I've noticed that too. Some of the best Unusual Heat daughters have gone over there including Golden Doc A. I think they would cross well with a lot of the Sunday Silence-lined stallions.

Not sure where else to put this, but I saw an advertisement for a "court ordered dispersal sale".

Sad she couldn't live out her years quietly...

Kentucky Broodmare of the Year Lisa Danielle Dies at 25
Morton and Elaine Fink's pensioned royal blue hen mare Lisa Danielle, dam of two-time Horse of the Year Wise Dan, was euthanized Feb. 7 at Patchen Wilkes Farm near Lexington because of an irreparable injury she sustained to her left hind leg.

The 25-year-old chestnut daughter of Wolf Power, out of the Secretariat mare Askmysecretary, ruptured a digital sesamoid ligament in her left hind leg.

"With a younger mare, you could probably fuse the joint, but not in an older mare like her," said Barry Ezrine, farm manager of Patchen Wilkes, where Lisa Danielle has been since the Finks bought her as a yearling in 1995. "There was no way we were going to let her suffer."
