LOL thanks for the explanation. I was curious at first and then I saw the abbreviation on Twitter too but couldn't figure it out, sometimes it was paired with a horse's name and sometimes not so then I was totally confused. But now it all makes sense!

Late addition to @keenelandsales November? The @nmrhof Foal Patrol star out of champion La Verdad! She's a #NYbred daughter of Tapit for @Lady__Sheila.
Huh, kinda surprised they're not keeping her... vid clip at link.

Been a bit busy moving house amongst other things but I should hopefully be posting more now.

Waikato Stud who stand FSS Tivaci are holding a foal photo competition. Breeders submit their Tivaci foal photos for a chance to win a free service and voting is now open!

This lovely colt is by California Chrome x Spring Fragrance by Eskendereya. He was born July 21, 2018. Spring Fragrance's dam was Gazella by Tiznow from the direct female family of Foolish Pleasure. (Photo is by Juan Ignacio Bozzello and shared by Haras Sumaya.) Chrome has been getting some really lovely foals in his first crop in Chile.

Will the foal have that bloodmark-esque mark on his face forever?

Little handsome is just shedding out in a few places, like his front knees and butt too.

Yes...he's got large and small patches of darker color even in his mane. Is it possible for a foal born chestnut to shed out to bay or brown?

His dam is chestnut so he has to be chestnut. Maybe a liver chestnut?

I think he's likely to be chestnut; I don't see any actual black in his mane and tail like a bay or brown babe would have. Sure is well put together though!

No.

Keep in mind, foal shed is historically the darkest shed as well, and not indicative of adult shade.

Oh, the foal shed. Where they go from looking like cute little fuzzy caterpillars to moth-eaten ragamuffins...

This page has some nice photos of the stages of foal shed with a few different colors:

Here's a fabulous photo from Siena Farm of their weanlings posted on Nov. 27 on their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/SienaFarmKY/?_ ... tion=group). The weanling on the far left is a filly by California Chrome out of Somethinaboutbetty by Forestry. I don't know who the other weanlings are, but it sure is amazing how they all lined up like that.
